Gates make a kit for theses that is a double sided grooved belt, new grooved tension er and idler pulley because this was such a common problem with theses vans. I have put theses on a few vans and the people were so happy that the belt don't come off anymore even in the heavy rain. The gates part number for the 3.3 and 3.8 V6 is 38379K any parts store that sell gates belts (most of them do) should have this or be able to get it. Its not too hard to install and is about $130 bucks

Serpentine belt coming off on a 99 plymout grand voyager

Verify that you have a good/correct belt then check your belt routing and alignment. Then check pulleys for faulty bearings. A free spin with the belt removed should be enough. Whats really common on those is the belt tensioner goes out

How do I change the water pump on my 2000 chysler grand voyager

3.3 AND3.8 ENGINES TAKE OFF SERPENTINE BELT 15MM ON BELT TENSIONER . REMOVE 2 HOSES OFF PUMP. 5 ?BOLTS AROUND WATER PUMP. IT WILL COME OFF WITH ANTIFREEZE LEAKING OUT. HAVE DRAIN PAN UNDER . ALSO IT IS GOOD TIME TO CHANGE THE LOWER HOSES. REINSTALL WITH NEW GASKET, FILL SYSTEM, PUT HEAT ON HOT AND RUN UNTIL THERMOSTATE OPENS, AND CHECK FOR LEAKS, TORQUE IF NESSESARY ( ENGINE OFF)!!REFILL AT SIDE TANK

What all is involved in replacing the water pump on a 99 Plymouth grand voyager 3.3l

Not much. Jack up on the right side, remove the wheel, and the shroud, remove then serp belt, take out the bolts, and replace the pump. You can try to drain the system first, but we usually catch what we can and add new coolant.

When water hits belt - it throws it off!

check all the bearing in all of the acc. power steering pump water pump idler pully a/c compressor etc. if all good no nise and they spinn freely check the alinment of all the puilly mak so they all line on together. sometimes the power steering pully get worn inside the pump and allow it to move back and forth too much some play is normal. also the power steering pully trys to walk off the shaft and make the belt track off the other pullys .

GP with 3800 V6 keeps shedding the serpentine belt.

You have got something out of whack there, take a straight edge, like a metal ruler or framing square and line up the pulleys, try to find one that is out of whack. Wiggle the crank pulley and see if it is loose. If the belt is off, wiggle all the pulleys to see if one is loose. One of the pumps, comp, alt, etc, is either bent or has a broken bracket. Is the tensioner tight? Too tight? It should be ok if nothing squeals. Hope this helps.

Where is the water pump located on a 99 plymouth voyager, 3.0Lit?

It is driven by the timing belt. You'll need to support the front of the engine, remove the mount and timing covers. The pump sits in the center between the heads and has a tube running into the back of it that sometimes is difficult to get out. If you are uncomfortable with setting up the timing belt you may want to have a professional do the job.

Where is the water pump located 99 plymouth voyager

the reason u can't see the pump is because it is driven by the timing belt and is hidden under the plastic7b4ce03.jpg cover that is over that belt.

How to loosen the serpentine belt

If you look at the spring tensioner on the belt, there is a 3/8 square hole in the support arm.
Use a ratchet wrench, or breaker bar in the hole, and release the tension. Once it's loose, you can remove the belt.
