Question about Toyota Pickup

1 Answer

I have a 1992 toyota pickup ext cab, 4x4 V6 420 000 km. I have swapped the engine out for a 1994 toyota 4runner V6 220 000km, same identical engine. i replaced the timing, intake seals, oil pan seal, rebuilt the starter, and replaced the fuel pump and alternator. the plugs, wires, and distributor coil are all good. the truck has good spark, rolls over fine, and theres fuel coming out of the return line at the motor, but it won't run. it fires then dies imediately. any ideas? ( oh and the new motor ran amazing before we took it out of the 4runner)

Try a hot wire to the distributor. If the engine keeps running then the problem may lie with the ignition circuit wiring. It also might be the ceramic resistor.

We have a 1992 Ford F250. The engine and transmission work great but the body is all rusted out. We would like to drop our engine etc into a different body. What years can I search for that will work?

1992-1994 are virtually identical, but 1987-91 are pretty close as well. 1995-96(7)

if the frame isnt rusted out to the point of failure, I would just replace the body panels, and cab. cabs from 87-96 are close enough to swap pretty easily, 1980-86 will work too with a little more work. beds 1987-96(7) are identical, 1980-86 will bolt up, but wheelwells are styled different. fenders doors ect are easily available from body shop supply or lmctruck.com

You might check for exhaust in the coolant ... perhaps you have a small head gasket leak that is the problem.

If it seems to run well otherwise, you might have a partially obstructed catalytic convertor. Usually if this is the problem, the engine will also bog down even if you try to rev it up when it is in neutral.
