Hello campbella697: My name is Roger and I will help you. THe code for #6 cylinder misfire is P0306. This is cylinder specific. How ever P0316 is a different problem all together. Not knowing the year, make, model and engine size I can give you generic possibilities. The code deals with engine revolutions. The possibilities are (1) a damaged crank position sensor (2)ignition system, (3) fuel injector,(4) running out of fuel (5) fuel quality,(6) base engine mechanical or a damaged power train control module. However this should be checked with a scanner by knowledgeable person or you will spend money you don't need to. Should you need further help I will be glad to assist you. Please rate the answer. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

Engine cylinder numbering

problem is that what auto zone told you was not complete
misfiring is more from faulty injectors/ injector control/wiring than from plugs and HT leads
so if you have replace the leads one for one then the problem will be the injectors

2003 TRACTOR 4X4 WAGON IS MIS FIRING ON CYLINDER TWO

Try to see if you can get view the are where the plugs are firing in the dark. Check for arcing off the plug or wires to the metal engine parts. I fought with a vehicle for days trying to determine a misfire problem on a car that we just put new plugs, wires, and coils on. Turns out the ceramic insulator on one of the BRAND NEW plugs had a hairline crack down the length of the insulator. You could not see if with the naked eye, but you could feel it if you ran your finger over it. Easiest to find if you can run the engine in a dark garage.

Main cause of mis firing and hard starting

main cause of firing is problem with spark plug, spark plug wire, or ignition coil of your vehicles. try a obd check up. get a detailed report on sensors. then change all spark plug. And if the problem still persists, unplug sparkplug wire one by one while engine is on. then check the difference. usually engine misfires while any plug is disconnected. thanks
