You do not specify the year. Here is 1998 to 2003. Here is '03 to '08 turbo 4 cylinder. Here is '06 to '07 V-6.

I have a 96 900 se 2.0 turbo . needs a right side control arm an ball joint, presumedly? this due to deteriation of bushing. but which control arm. vin # N5T2010364. MANY THANKS

Where do you find the engine numberon a 1999 saab 95 wagon with a 2.3t. the turbo is shot and the parts store needs the engine number to be sure they order have the right one.


Looking from the front of the car, the engine number is on the right side, down low near the gearbox. See the (unfortunately rather unclear) diagram below:

Depending on the overall condition of the engine, it could have worn or frozen rings, worn valve guides or the turbo you installed is worn out. These are driven by exhaust pressure and if their bearings are worn, you may be getting a mix of compressed air from the turbo and oil that is seeping past the compressor's internal seals.

Refitting Saab 9-5 Turbo


The turbo is located on the front cylinder bank, under the engine cover and heat shield. The exhaust turbine housing is integrated into the exhaust manifold so this entire piece must be removed. Contact me via email and I will provide information on where to get your turbo rebuilt.
