I have a 1995 BMW 325i with a no crank situation. Put in a new starter and I can't get power to the ignition signal wire going to the starter.

A wiring diagram for your car would be a great help identifying possible fault points and checking the starter circuit with a meter or testlamp.

From your description it would seem there isn't an immobiliser but be aware early transponder keys were identical to ordinary plastic bodied keys.

Firstly ensure the engine will crank by energising the starter manually and then check the ignition/starter switch is doing the job and delivering a starter current into the correct wire. If that is ok the wire is either broken or there is a relay in circuit that is deprived of operating current or is faulty.

Slide under your BMW wearing very little. Yell loudly and ask somebody how do you change your oil. See what happens and
keep an open mind about it.

Hi can someone please tell me if the crankshaft pulley bolt on a BMW 2001 318 injection m43 engine is a left hand or right hand thread

It's normal way for undoing easiest way to get a socket on a long bar so it comes down to the ground on one side then flick the engine over but don't start a very good way for loosening the bolt

Cylinder head torque settings bmw 318i m43

Hi dear40,

The m43 engine should be similar to both the m42 and m44. The cylinder head torque settings are 22ft/lb and 90degree torque angle, and another 90 degree torque angle. Make sure to wait approximately 10minutes before performing the 2nd torque angle.

I changed my engine a m43 but now is is running with backfire, What to do?

A backfire is normally caused by a jumped timing chain or belt, stuck valves or plugs wired wrong. Check these first. You could also have a vacuum advance hose off or leaking.

Engine tempature probe on block is bad and grounded inside, or the wire leading to the engine block heat sensor is shorted to ground.

M43 engine wont start, fuel pump maybe?

Does it crank when you try to start it?
Does it even makes the effort to hump a little and the goes off again?
Probably a good tune-up and a new gas pump and fuel filter and you should be good to go.

Does a 1993 BMW 318i have a timing belt or a timing chain? I just bought this BMW and the previous owner did not know whether or not the timing belt was changed. I've heard that if the timing belt goes out...

Hi some of them have a belt but yours being the M43 engine is a chain, the only thing to listen for with them is chain slap or an rattling around the chain area, a bit of research on the M43 engine also shows that the chain should be changed after 100000 miles as they become weak, Just joined here and found this unsolved i know its a bit late but hope the extra info helps
