I found for myself that disconnecting the steering knuckle from the strut ,removing the tie rod and the lower ball joint also from the steering knuckle and remove it so that its out of the way. This makes it allot easier to remove the half shaft. Also be sure to hang the caliper with wire so you don't damage your break hoses. Most half shafts are 65 to 85 ft lbs but the exact torque can be gotten from your local auto parts store.

How do you install a new outer cv boot on axle of 2003 Hyundai santa fe 4 cyclinder

Hello: Your best bet would be to go to Auto Zone or Advance Auto parts store and buy a manual for your HYUNDAI It will give you step by step instructions with illustrations, torque specs etc. The cost of the manual will be less than 25.00.

I need to know the torque-specs on the bolts for the CV shaft on a 1993 90 s. I need both the specs for the 6 bolts that hold the cv shaft to the transmission, as well as the 1 big outer-spindle...

Axle shaft bolt should be torqued to 147 Ft Lbs plus 1/4 turn.

The six CV joint bolts should be 59 Ft Lbs.

Ball joint nut should be 48 Ft Lbs

Hope this helps.

Need to replace a cv boot on a 97 accord.

replace the whole axle, they arent that much money, and you have to take it out anyway just to spend a bunch of time putting the boot on a axle with wear on that joint anyhow. ;)

1997 F150 4x2, upper control arm torque specs, ball joint, and bushing bolts

The torgue spec for the upper control and ball joints is40 to 45 ft lbs they have castle nuts and cotter pins its not that critical the bushing are rubber mounts there much less user your best judgement not to over compress the rubber

How do i replace a cv joint on 1999 cadillac eldorado

lots of trouble and expense and all you get is one new joint. trade that labor expense and for about the same money get a new or reconditioned axle that has 2 good cv joints, boots, and new axle. and you can change out the whole axle yourself much easier than the joint.

Ford fusion front end noise when doing tight three point turn or manovers

popping noise when turning is usually caused by worn CV joints. Inspect CV boots for tears. Torn boot will allow dust to get in and cause wear. If boot is torn, replace CV joint or entire shaft (usually easier). If boot is not torn, grab shaft next to each CV joint and see how much movement you can cause in the joint. If one CV moves more than the other three, that one is probably bad.

Axle will not come out of the axle housing

I quote from service manual

1 . Raise and support the truck. Remove the rear wheels, the brake drum or brake caliper and rotor. If this is a disc brake, support caliper with wire. Remove seal retainer nuts from axle
housing.

2 . Pull out the axle shaft from housing. Remove the snap ring and bearing race from the axle shaft. Cut the bearing retainer. Break the bearing cage using a hammer and chisel and remove cage and rollers.

3 . Remove the oil seal, the seal retainer and the parking brake assembly (rear). Using a hydraulic press and bearing splitter, press the inner race from axle shaft. Inspect axle shaft for seal wear. Ensure that the shaft is not bent.

your cv joint is bad. Instead of fixing the cv joint it is actually easier and cheaper to have or replace the entire axle your self. Because it comes with a cv joint and you get a new axle also.
