Question about 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora
The service engine soon light has been on in my car. We got it hooked up to a scanner and it showed that there is no errors. The only problems are when you first start the car and go it has problems shifting(thats about 75% of the time). But on two seperate occations the car wouldnt start. We had been driving around running errands in the heat, and when we came out of the store to start the car it would turn over but not start. We let it cool down about an hour, also the sun went behind clouds on both occations and it started right up. The mechanic has no clue. We called a dealer and the said possibly the brain box. Could someone help
I've had a crankshaft position sensor replaced because my car would die on me but would restart without a problem. As far as it not shifting properly, that is more than likely due to the turbine speed sensor. My Olds does the same thing sporadically. I just clear all error codes and I unplug and then plug in the 20 pin connector going to the transmission. Most of the time the sensor is OK it's the wiring that's the problem. Replacing the sensor will set you back between $700-$1,000 because the transmission needs to be removed from the car to get to the damn sensor.
