Question about 1991 Ford F150

1 Answer

I have a 91 F150 that had an electrical short sometime in the past. I have found a 87 that I was wanting to buy the wiring harness from the firewall back. I was wanting to know if that would work. Please help.

I was checking the diagrams and pretty much if you don't want to have any problems, the only one that is going to work for you is the 91. Although the 87 is similar you will have to work on the terminals and may not have all of the components, also the color wiring may change. I would suggest to get one from the same year at a local junk yard.
Good Luck!! A HELPFUL - 4 THUMBS - rating for this solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa.

Will a '92 2wd 5.8l engine wiring harness connect to a '90 4wd?

Some of the wiring is the same, but you are talking about two different body style trucks, even though they looked similar, one style ran from 87 - 91 and the next ran from 92 - 87. Other changes were made o the 91-97 body style. You might be able to get away with a temporary hooking it up just to get you and your truck out of a bad place, but as far a permanent solution, no way. There are going to be too many differences for you to be able to get the wiring 100% functional, without a great deal of modification. I hope this has helped you.

W202 wiper and horn both start occasionally

These problems are difficult to find, but not impossible. The wiring harness will have to checked at the following points. Check the fuse unit. (Clean all connections on the fuses and contact points.) Trace the connections from the horn to the firewall. If that is fine, check the connections from the wiper to the firewall. Inspect the wire harness loom that goes through the firewall towards the steering wheel. Inspect the "kickdown" switch underneath the accelerator. Test the switch for continuity. If the problem is still unresolved, check the relay panel and all relays for corrosion on any connectors. Be sure to inspect all earthing points on the body.(brown wire). This will take you a couple of hours to work through. Always tidy the wires after inspection and use proper solvents when cleaning contact points. I had a similar issue with my W124, when turning on the lights, the wiper started to work. I found the problem caused by a short on the headlight unit when I was working on the car. Good luck, I hope you find the problem soon.

Car wont stay Running,Door wont Lock-Unlock, Radio dont work and Trunk Pop don't work

It appears that you have an electrical short somewhere. If you are mechanically inclined and have hours of time and electrical knowledge, good luck! Sometimes these problems can be easily found where the wiring harness runs through the firewall from the fuse panel under the dash to the engine compartment relay box. Vibrations of the engine over time on a vehicle over 10 years old will chafe the wires over time on places where the wires lay over body frame components. Also heat and time on a cars wiring harness over a decade can damage wiring in the engine compartment or along exhaust manifold underneath. Try looking in those places for visible damage before tearing out all the interior or dash.

Im converting a 91 f150 to a 94 f150 and i badly need wiring diag for both vechicles . the harness was chopped lol .

You can get both wire harness diagrams from These are Ford dealer manuals so should be correct. You can get them for $40 to $50 for the pair. I've used them before and had excellent service. Hope this helps.

Installin 07 f150 head unit in 04 f150

You could try a Salvage yard if you know what it looks like. Then I would think the Dealer may have a harness and experience with Ford radios. Radio Shack maybe, then last would be a Stereo shop but you need to know if they are a good installer. You would not want electrical problems after they work on it.

Limp home mode light will come on and stuttering

Check the actual ohm readings for tps sensor to manufacturer specs. Sounds like the tps sensor is out of range. Sometimes the o2 sensor gives a false reading to the ecm which causes the tps malfunction. Doubt seriously if it electrical short. Bad ground maybe.

I have a 1990 Nissan pickup. the wiring harness

Likely it's not a short, or you would have other electrical issues. since you already have found the location, narrow down the search by unplugging and carefully checking all connections looking for a corroded pin etc. in the vicinity of the part of the harness you are moving.

I have a 87 plymouth voyager Le with a 3.0 engine ( not sure if its stock or not )

You should have a fuel pump relay you can check on firewall or fender with other relays in the area. Check part #'s, on relays, sometimes they will swap for testing if same number.
