I have a clarion rk20 keyless entry and remote start on my 2003 jeep grand cherokee it works fine but whenever i remote start it, its parking lights continue to flash as if the hazard lights were on?

After doing some poking around, I found that flashing parking lights are an indication that the remote start is being used. According to the information I found, the parking lights shouldn't keep on flashing after your 2003 Grand Cherokee has started. I am assuming that your parking lights, however, continue to flash even after the engine has started and you have put your Jeep into gear. Please let me know if that is the case as if it is then you likely have a short somewhere in the wiring that is telling your alarm system's brain that the remote circuit is still being used.

In order for something like this to happen, the major power line is usually pulled high when the remote is activated. When it is pulled high, the computer tells your car's parking lights to enter flash mode. What should happen next is that when the system has fired, the line should drop back to standard voltage and, at that point, the change in voltage should tell your parking lights to go back into standard mode.

What is happening instead is that the flasher light activation circuit remains high even after it is supposed to reset to normal.

The usual cause of this is a short somewhere on the input side of the alarm circuity. It is this side of the circuitry that pulls the parking lights into flash mode. It may be as simple as a short in the alarm system's switching wire harness (even something as simple as a loose crimp on a spade connector or a molex plug insert can cause it.

If you do not have easy access to the switch wiring, the wiring harness or loom, I would suggest taking it to a good alarm shop, telling them what is going on and having them trace the circuits until they find the troublemaker.

I wouldn't think catalytic converter, without it giving some indication that it was going bad, but without testing it is hard to say.
When it cranks and won't start, check for battery voltage to the coil on the dark green wire, with key ON. If you have power at the coil, it might be a bad coil. If no power to the coil, it could be a Crank Position Sensor or the Cam Position Sensor inside the distributor. If one of those is bad, it can stop the computer from sending power to the coil.
Good luck.

if it was me i would check the safety switch on the clutch if its a stick give these websites a try its www.alldatadiy.com and www.autozone.com you can also stop by your local jeep dealer ship and talk to someone in the parts department about the problem you are having wish you the best of luck Michigan Man.

I need to know.

Well, there are several places to look. The first place that I would look is at the center console, under the park brake handle. There is a long trim panel there that you can pull up without a tool. Then, check the overhead console. Some Jeeps have a "hidden" door pocket on both front doors. The power window switch trim pulls off, but you could break that. My money is under the park brake handle.

1998 jeep cherokee sport in great shape with 130 miles...won't start when i turn key...new battery, new starter switch, new crankshaft positioning sensor, new neutral safety switch, rework tumblers in...

I had a similar problem. My mech told me it was from putting it in park before it is completely stopped. Your vehicle is reacting like its in neutral or out of gear, since it will only start when it is in park, yet it will start with a push. If this is an automatic your speaking of this could be your problem. He said it is common in Jeeps. I have not replaced the part but I have not had any trouble starting as long as I make sure that when I park my wheels are straight & I take my foot completely off the brake after I put in in park, then shut it off. It starts every time.
