My 1998 pontiac firebird security light is on and will not start. What do I do?

Usually the sensor in the key lock is not reading the chip in the key, or the chip has failed.
I would try a spare key first. If the light stays on with both keys, you'll need to get the anti-theft system checked out.

My left side light wont go up or down on my 1998 pontiac firebird

Hi. I'm guessing your meaning your window. If so my first guess is that its electric and I would say your window motor has gone bad. But if you recently spilled something on the switch or haven't cleaned the switch area over time, the swich can become shorted out or nonconductive when depressed. I would have a shops advice on the r/r of both.

My 1998 Pontiac Firebird, 3.8 liter, won't start and has juice in the battery. When I try to start it, the break pedal seems to be locked up.

Did you try to jump start it with another car?
Could be a number of things---Dirty battery ends, loose battery ends, loose or bad ground cable, bad cell in the battery or starter going bad ect....

Change ingnition switch on 1978 pontiac firebird trans am

Use a steering wheel puller to remove the snap ring that holds the big spring. Remove the screws that hold the signal light mechanism, and the signal light handle has to be removed. Lift the signal thing up to expose a "torx" headed screw. Remove that screw and the tumbler should pull out fairly easily. That torx screw should have an unthreaded part at the bottom of it. Make sure that comes with it. Sometimes they break off.

1998 Firebird dash light and running lights...

There is a module under the dash that controls the Daytime Running lights or DRL. It might have something to do with it. You can find some more info here:

Also all that lighting goes thru the headlight switch. Try unplugging it and putting the fuse in. If it still blows its probably the module.
