Question about 2007 Volkswagen Jetta 2.5 Sedan

2 Answers

Was told by vw dealership I need a cv boot on 2007 jetta or could result in much more expensive repair later. Was told by 2 other auto repair shops that I should replace entire axil because cost to replace boot is more costly due to labor. True or false? Also how urgent is this repair and how dangerous to drive?

The repair shops are correct in the fact of it being more costly to replace just the boot. It's not that urgent to replace the axle if the boot just ripped. If you do start hearing popping and clanking sounds while turning corners, then it's time to change that axle since it will start making noises when it's worn.

How much would a cv boot part be for 1997 lexuse es 300 3.0p sedan 4a

you will have to contact a shop that repairs cv joints and drive shafts
genuine ( same as generic) will be expensive
the real cost will be to remove the drive shaft to fit the boots
however there is a boot that can be fitted over the cv joint with removing the shaft
lot cheaper and con be done by anyone with a bit knowledge and tools
available from cv joint shops or some auto spares shops

I want to change the rear brake pads myself .How to compress the rear caliper piston on 2007 vw jetta 2.5? Somebody told me to use the computer to release the piston. Is it true? Dominic

You can rent the caliper compression tool from O'rielly's auto parts and compress the piston. I did it and it was very easy and made changing the pads a breeze.

My wife's 2007 Jetta battery went dead now I have no power to radio and fuses are all good

The radio has a special code for theft prevention, you may need to take it to a repair shop and have them recode the radio for you. Call around though, and find a repair shop that has the aftermarket software (VCDS). If you take it to a dealer they will probably charge at least $100, and it takes almost no time at all. There is an inexpensive software sold for VW that allows independant repair shops to program the microprocessors on VW's (like the one for your radio).
