Unfortunately I haven't found a quick fix for your issue, but I want you to take a look at this link. It is written by a bunch of LS owners who have the same issue you are having. I hope it helps. Sorry.

This is a normal condition, the nag transmission control module needs to see a certain temperature of the fluid before shifting into overdrive this is due to fluid viscosity, if the fluid is too thick
due to cold temps the pump cannot supply enough pressure to fully engage
the overdrive clutch, if it did you would have slippage in overdrive

Tranmission does not shift at normal speeds

Your normal speeds are what?

35 to 55mph

Shifting up thru all gears & lock-up to 42 mph?

Not shifting at proper speed

Could be that transmission is not modulating right. sensor on tranmission controls this.Could also be in need of the screen needing replaced in transmission. Have you checked the fluid level. Start up and leave in parkand let it run a minute or so then check fluid level. Hope this is helpful and good luck

Will not shift in overdive

At the very least you have a 3 speed transmission with overdrive, maybe even more gears. Assuming it is an automatic.
It should shift twice then go into lock-up before shifting into overdrive.
You would feel four shifts under normal conditions.
As far as not shifting, the problem could be electrical or something inside the transmission.
And the check engine light should be on.

cold engines/tranmissions may not shift into overdrive until the engine reaches operating temp or goes into "closed loop"

It will shift out of overdrive upon increasing throttle , pulling hills and so on. Your overdrive probably kicks in around 35 to 45mph and kicks back out as you increase throttle. Electrically controled speed sensor to control the response. Overwise the engine would bog down to a stall. Over drive is just that. It changes the gearing ratio to over drive meaning less then final gear 4 to 1 down to 4 to 3 etc more direct drive ratio to lessen consumtion of fuel with less stress on engine. Have shift speed sensor adjusted. Don't drive in overdrive in city if most driving is under 45mph

No speedometer, overdrive flashing, will not shift to low.

sounds like the speed sensor on the back of your tranmission housing has gone out or is starting to. i would visit ur local tranny shop n have it checked out also when the overdrive light is flashing usually means there is any issue with drive n overdrive but can also be included with just the speed sensor issue

Overdrive sensor

NO, just replace the Vehicle Speed Sensor, it is on the transmission.
