When I went to start my car the key just turned freely without starting car. The lights on dash came on and I couldn't turn them off because key wouldn't turn off either, had to disconnect battery. Replaced key lock cylinder and still did same thing. Right now I am starting it by manually pushing the ignition switch don't know how to get to actuator rod? if that is what I need.

You need to replace the ignition lock cylinder and/or the ignition switch actuator parts that turn the electrical switch off,on,start when the key is turned, the electrical part of the ignition is remote from the lock cylinder, it is operated by a gears and a rod.

Driving lights remain on after car is shut off. I have to disconect battery too shut them off and leave the attery disconected until I use the car again. but my headlights work fine. I even tried pulling...

Check the delay switch for your headlights. It may be shorting out and simply need replaced. Not cheap, but not all that expensive considering other repairs.

1996 ford taurus is losing power and rpms when engine gets warm

If it was a dealer, go back & have him scan it for fault codes. Usually cheaper to have it scanned and replace one faulty part, than replace 5 parts before you hit the right one. Autozone & PEP boys apparently will scan for free if you bought it private.

It means the engine mounts and tranny mounts are shot replace them and it will stop! Also your idle might be too high due to a TPS sensor malfunction.

Hello Johnrevival, Did you toss in new spark plugs too? I would suggest the best of champion which are designed specifically for ford engines.

Cooling fan

fan relay is stuck in closed position inside you can replace them cheaply with after market parts from a local auto parts dealer. the relays are located on the fire wall on passenger side in engine area, or on the driverside inner fender
