Replacing car stereo in a 2008 Jeep Patriot

I wish to replace the standard system with the higher spec 6cd/mp3/radio.I have obtained the replacement unit from another Patriot together with the anti theft code if needed.
Is this straight forward or do I need to take it to my local Jeep dealer?

It is pretty easy if you have a few tools and know how to use them.

1-You need to pry off the trim bezel. There are just snaps holding it on, but be careful you do not pull too hard or scratch it. Use a plastic stick or small srewdriver covered with tape.

2-There will be 4 bolts at each corner of the radio to remove.

3-Pull out the radio and and remove all the connectors and the AM/FM antenna plug.

4-Reconnect your new radio and repeat steps 2 and 1.

I did this same upgrade on my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee and it worked without the need for a theft code.

Need stereo wiring diagram for 2008 Jeep Patriot.

welcome to the complex world of cars, even the radios in this car talks on the cars network, so that needs to be deal'ed with too.
what did they do wrong,? (trusting your sellers)
1: assumed all jeeps have 1 radio, no it has many options.
and the are not the same. not even close......
2: failed to know that all this is documented in the SM manual.
the service manual may snow 3 to 6 head end options, day one.

here is the book ,read it.

or find a harness kit from a company that can do them all. correctly....

many can't or is just done/ 1/2 way,
the SM , the service manual, i have it open for you.
chapter 8w-47 covers the head audio system.
im lookg now for you
ops it shows a separate amp. and a sep. subwoffer amp(options)
it also communicates on the cars CAN buss.
network. connector C1 pin 5 and 6,
next in the chapter is the BASE radio
the Premium
and the SAT radio.
so there are 4 radios.
all wired totally different.
the car is not really a jeep its Mitsubishi , hack job.
good luck working on that....
The CD on the car is , horrid....the CD SM. service man.

SECURITY CODE Most units incorporate a unique Key code security number that must be entered before the unit will operate. Normally, the Ford Dealer does this during the pre delivery inspection. If the battery is disconnected for any reason, or the audio unit is removed from the vehicle, the Key code must be re-entered before the unit will work again. LOST SECURITY CODE If you lose the Key code, contact your dealer and supply details of your audio unit along with some proof of identity. Your Dealer will then obtain the correct code from Ford Motor Company. ENTERING A SECURITY CODE If 'CODE - - - -', 'CODE 0000' or 'Enter Key code' appears in the display when you switch on the audio unit, you must enter the Key code using the station preset buttons.

How to remove and replace front left cv axle shaft on 2008 Jeep Patriot

It is too lengthy a process to explain here...have you looked elsewhere online for a video showing you what to do? Look up "Replacing 2008 Jeep Patriot axle shaft" and you'll get something. I'm assuming you have some of the tools you'll need to do this like ratchets, sockets, jack, supports to hold the vehicle while being worked on, etc.

I need the radio operating manual for a Jeep Patriot 2009 model. Where can I down load it from as the local dealer cannot seem to find a hard copy for me.

following is the procedure. u can also check ehow for more details.
  • Twist the negative cable off the terminal on the vehicle battery, using an adjustable wrench.
  • Remove the factory issue stereo. Pry off the radio trim bezel with a flat head screwdriver. Remove the four bolts on each corner of the radio. Pull the radio out the dashboard. Unplug the thick black radio antenna cable. Disconnect the wire harnesses from the rear of the stereo. Place the old stereo to one side.
  • Prepare the dashboard for the new stereo. Fit the radio installation sleeve provided with the aftermarket stereo to the radio installation kit. Feed the sleeve through the portal of the radio installation kit and bend the tabs on the sides of the sleeve to secure it in place. Feed the audio wiring of the Jeep and the radio antenna cable through the portal of the assembly and slide the assembly into the dashboard. Secure it in place with the bolts removed earlier.
  • Wire the new stereo. Connect the wiring of the stereo to the audio wiring of the Patriot, using a custom wire harness adapter. Push the connections together until they snap into place and test the connection by tugging gently on either end.
  • Plug the radio antenna cable into the alloted port on the rear of the aftermarket head unit.
  • Slide the connected aftermarket stereo into the prepared housing in the Patriot's dashboard. Click it into place in the radio installation sleeve, taking care not to trap any wiring.
