Under your hood you will see three fluid reservoirs only two of wich will have twist caps. one is for water and the other is for power steering... the smaller one will be your power steering reservoir. as for the transmission fluid it is to be poured directly into the transmission. there will be a cap or bolt on the top that will need to be removed, after that you will need a long set funnel to reach it. good luck.

What can cause my power steering and deck raiser to not work

You apparently have a bad power steering pump that operates your steering and deck lift hydraulics. Check the fluid level first and if it's low or empty, fill it up with transmission fluid or the fluid it calls for. A dipstick is on the cap.

How do i add the power steering fluid in the engine?

Buy the fluid at Autozone and ask them to add for you. Usually they will and show you where the fill port is. Power steering fluid should be replaced every 75K miles. Usually you can buy an inexpensive turkey baster and use it to remove old power steering fluid from the reservoir and replace it, (always use synthetic transmission fluid vs non synthetic) I find using about an ounce or two of Z-max transmission treatment added to the fluid extends pump life.

Time to change the power steering fluid. Some cars use power steering fluid, while other cars use transmission fluid. Do not use the wrong fluid in your car or you will have even bigger problems.

Does the fluid for a 1983 Buick Riviera power steering unit require power steering fluid or transmission fluid? The pump on the vehicle has a reservoir which I was told was from a 1982 Buick Riviera. The...

I would drain your power steering pump, even if I had to take it off and dump the fluid! Yes, you do need to use power steering fluid, but what will get you in the most trouble is if you mix your fluids because then they work against each other.

While some people will use transmission fluid in a power steering pump in an emergency, I always recommend they drain it out and use the proper fluid in the proper place.

Where is the power steering fill place

When the hood is popped, look for a cap that says ATF Fluid only. That is actually the power steering reservoir and not the transmission fluid fill location. I would recommend Dextron III or Dextron VI fluid for the power steering. Don't use your average power steering fluid, it says to only use ATF for a reason.

Where do i put in transmission and power sterring fluids?

You put tranny fluid in the place you take out tranny stick to check tranny fluid level. You need a funnel. The power steering is the same. take off the cap and it has lines to tell you if it needs fluid. Add power steering fluid there.

I need to add power steering fluid to my 2000 dodge neon. What kind do i need to buy?

Your owner's manual lists the correct fluid. Sometimes it is listed on the P/S fill cap. If you remove all the fluid then use ATF+4 fluid. If you are only topping it off then use ATF+3. This is the same fluid that you use in the Automatic Transmission of your Neon.

What kind of power steering fluid is used for BMW

The cap to your power steering reservoir should either say ATF or CHF11s. If it is ATF you can use Dexron automatic transmission fluid. If it is CHF11s the dealer is the only place I know that sells it. There should be level marks on the cap stick.
