Check the level of the transmission fluid. And if its good nd ur rpms are going to hight and the car still not picking up speed you may be looking at a bad transmission. You will have to replace it or rebuild the same one on your car.

Hello, my Kia optima 2001 has an auto tranny, the problem is that the car makes rough shifts to 1st gear from a complete stop, it jumbles a little then it recovers and drives normally until a new stop is...

I would recommend that you have the fluid and filter changed, and put some Seafoam transmission repair in it, Seafoam is the best thing that you can use for a transmission, it will free a stcky valve body, and condition all of the moving parts, freeing them of grime that causes transmission damage and slipping, and hard shifting, you can get it at just about any auto parts store.

2002 kia optima, dohc, belt not broken but slipped. cams will not stay on marks springs one way or the other. all other marks in line.

you have to lock the two cam gears together while holding them in the right position. a special tool is used but you could make a small wedge out of wood to jamn in between the two gears, that will lock them together

02 kia optima code p1529

When driving the car cold about 10 minutes later the car will kick meduim hard , and the engine light will come on, and then it will be stuck in 3rd gear, but it only does it when the enginge light is on. codes p0720 and p1529 are what I got with the obd2 reader. the P0720 is for the output shaft speed sensor. The sensor was replaced and the computer was reset with the obd2 code reader, but the engine light came back on and I got the same codes, also car kick the same way, What can I do to fix the problem.

My 05 kia optima is loosing power

To confirm the clutch is slipping , drive at about 35mph in 5th gear and then put your foot to the floor (making sure the road in front is clear!) IF the engine note increases along with the revs and the speed stays the same then it is the clutch that needs replacing.

2002 kia optima slipping into 3rd and 2nd gear while driving

UPDATE! ! ! Fixed this problem! YES ! ! ! The speed sensors was all that needed replacing. NOT ANY SOLENOIDS ! !. Two of them cost $160 and it solved the problem! Do not buy from the dealers. An after market version is available for $50 each. I was forced to buy dealers.
