Question about Plymouth Neon

1 Answer

Engine started running rough on a wet rainy day. I shut the car off and when I attempted to start it a few mins later it started then died. Now if I spray a little starting fluid in it it runs until fluid is gone then dies. is there a fuel filter that could be plugged? hows the best way to troubleshoot the fuel system?

I would check the fuel pressure and flow. Sounds like it might not be getting enough fuel to run it..

P-reg 96 escort, my battery is dead after only a few hours however when the car is running (after jump starting it) the immobilisor light comes on for about a minute, then starts to flash every 3 seconds....

Bad Alternator.
After Starting or Jumping your vehicle: Remove the Negative Cable from the Battery.
If the Engine dies or runs really rough it is a bad Alternator.
The Battery Starts the Engine and runs nominal operations. The Alternator runs the Engine after it is Started by the Battery.
If the Engine does not die or runs really rough after removing the Negative Cable, then you have a malfunctioning Battery.

Check the vacuum hose attached to the fuel pressure regulator under the hood next to your intake pull it off and see if any fuel is present, if there is replace regulator.you may have to tap hose with your finger to get any fuel out or start vehicle run until hot then shut off and recheck if no fuel present in vacuum line let me know and we can try something else.

Intermitant shut down will run less than 1 min

If you have a solder iron you can open up the relay can and re-solder the relay on the pcb. Real common for there to be cracked foils at relay.
