Question about 1999 Ford Taurus

1 Answer

I have a 99 Ford Taurus Wagon. I have a battery drain. I had the car tested after I had to replace the battery twice in a years time. Evidently when the car is off it is still pulling almost .2 amount of juice continuously. Can you help by maybe pointing me in the right direction as to what fuse to pull. Also not sure if this is it but my keyless entry hasn't worked in about as long.

I have a 1994 ford taurus station wagon, the battery won't stay charged, the confusing thing is that the inside panel and door light works

you have a faulty alternator by the sounds of it, try this simple test, : test the voltage of the battery with the vehicle off with a simple multimeter, it should read just over 12v then test it with the car running, it should read around 14-14.5 volts if it still only reads 12v then your alternator needs replacing.

I have a 2002 ford taurus station wagon and the battery is not charging. We changed the battery twice and still not charging.

You need to have your alternator checked.... A good sign is if you start your car and take the pos. battery cable loose and the car dies chances are your alternator is bad...

It sounds like the battery is starting to go. You can take it in to get it tested to make sure. Some places (like Wal-mart) do free battery testing. If this is the original battery, five years old, it wouldn't be surprising that it is starting to go.

My '99 Ford wagon has been dying in idle for 7 months. Now it won't start, clicks when I turn key but won't start. I've noticed the "theft" light has been on for about 2 weeks when I'm driving, no idea...

Sounds like the anti theft system might need to be reprogramed. Anti theft will shut the car down and will not let it turn over and will cause the car to cut out. Also sounds like you need an alternator. Sounds like the probelms are related. You need to have the computer scanned and get the codes so you can have a better idea of what the problem is.

99 Taurus dies quickly and random windshield wipers

Its sounding like you have an electrical short in the car. These are the hardest things to track down. Basically the home test you can do is with a basic test light. Disconect your possative lead from your battery and *short* the conection with your test light. Clip on the clamp touch the point to the posative battery terminal. With the car off it that light comes on super bright you have a short to start tracking down.
