My 96 windstar has been leaking oil ever since I got the right hub replaced. The oil leak is on the right side of the engine just near the oil sending unit... How can this problem be fixed?

Is it the oil sending unit or is it possibly a leaking valve cover gasket.you have to narrow down the area the leak is actually coming from.if it is either of these then replacement is the only solution.

I think you need a new oil light switch ,they can and do leak through the internal seal of the switch which makes a nice mess on your drive

Clean engine and check exactly. Is from block or from some pipe or pipe end?

Have a brake leak in the driver side rear inside the hub.How do I fix it

Open up the bonnet and look for round black color device fitted near the driver side inside the engine bay. There will be pipes fitted to it and a brake oil reservoir on it. This is the brake master cylinder and round thing is brake booster. Any one of these is leaking and brake oil being very thin, is seeping inside your car. Take a look at the end of the pipes fitted to brake master cylinder, if anyone is leaking, tighten them. Still there is leak? your need to replace the master cylinder.

Just changed the oil pan gasket in my 1996 ford windstar and its still leaking oil and there is oil all over the passenger side of my van ,where else can this leak be?

You have a front and rear main seal, if either of these are leaking the oil will be coming from the center of the engine above the oil pan. There are 2 1 in front and 1 in back of the engine.

Power steering fluid leak back side engine in the middle of van

I just repaired a leak in my 1995 Windstar power steering system. The leak was toward the back of the engine but more toward the right (passenger side) of the car. There's not much clearance so I had to jack the front end up just to be able to look underneath. In my case the rubber hose had come off the metal tubing portion of the high pressure hose near the right wheel.

Fortunately, it had a screw type hose clamp, and barely enough working room, that allowed me to reinstall and tighten without having to remove the hose assembly. Yours sounds like there may be a break in the metal tubing, in which case the hose assembly would probably need to be replaced. Hopefully not.

Another thing that may come into play is whether the leak is on the high pressure side or the low pressure side. It seems that the high pressure hose assembly is long and winds in and around the engine. Probably a real dog to replace. Bottom line is you need to locate the leak and that will determine which hose it is and whether you need to replace or not.

I realize that this question is a few months old and has probably been corrected by now but, for others who may experience similar difficulties, have confidence, power steering systems aren't all that complicated and, usually, are not too difficult to repair. Hope this helps. - David

My ac doesnt come on because it says low refrigerant I want to knw where i wld fill up the ac coolant. and I have an oil leak that im told they would have to lift the engine to get to the leak for my 96...

Can you isolate the oil leak a bit for us? If it is the rear crankshaft seal, that does require engine disassembly. The front crankshaft seal can be replaced with the engine in the car.

check the heater core supply/return lines. theres a steel tube which runs under the intake manifold which commonly rusts out.

Oil leaking from behind the motor

if the oil is leaking when the vehicle is running the rear main seal ,between the engine and transmision is leaking. if not maybe there is a oil pressure switch at the back of the engine leaking ,or the valve cover gasket is leaking near the back of the engine , have the engine steam cleaned then you will see where it is leaking ,

Ford Windstar oil leak

Most possible oil leaks from valve cover rubber oil seal. Remove valve cover, inspect , clean surfaces, and replace with new rubber oil seal .
Good luck!

Oil leaking on front right side of the car near oil pan and oil filter

You need to clean the engine and then run the vehicle while watching the area. The most common failure is the oil sending unit located near the oil filter. I have also seen a leak develop between the oil pump housing, which is mounted directly behind the hamonic balencer and the engine block.
