I had the same problem with my car, but mine was easily fixed. My hockey stick was in my back seat and I guess it accidently knocked off the connecter located on the rear window. Look around your back window for a small connector and make sure it is in properly, think of plugging a plug into an extension cord, that kind of how it connect otgether.

hope this helps.

Rear defrost not working on 2004 Impala

Most GM cars and trucks use the fuse panel for safety with the rear defroster...Check your owners manual for the location of the fuse block...I think it is inside your glove box...Try the fuse first...if not the fuse...your options include replacing the glass inserted strips...(do not remove) with a rear shelf defroster blower motor... or an add on rear window defroster...Your auto parts stores should have both...Hope this helps.

I considered that but my fuse box (under the hood) doesn't show one for the area we're talking about. I know there must be another one somewhere but I don't know where

Go to a repair shop with a Data Base

They will print out all the distribution box locations
& all the fuse, relay etc positions for you

Locate the fuse box. Look for rear defrost on label on cover of fuse housing; or your owners manual for this fuse. If this does not help, and your fuses are ALL in working order, then locate the wiring for your rear defrost and follow it. There may a breaking point.

A/C doesn't work and only blow air out of the top of the vent. at windshield. Could this be a fuse or relay problem? My mom has lost her owner's manual and I don't know what relay goes to...

the directional for defrost and dash panel may have gone bad, there is no fuse for this. under the dash on the main vent, you will see a little box/with an electrical plug in. it's called an acuator.when you turn the knob to defrost,or dash, the acuator turns the door on the main vent to let the air flow to either the defrost,or dash.your acuator is most likely your problem.there is only one plug in to it and only 2-3 screws that remove it frome the vent panel under the dash.thank you for choosing fixya.com!

My rear defrost is not working, is it possibly a fuse, if so...how do I know which one it is, the fuse box in this car is in a nearly impossible position so I don't really want to spend the whole day with...

Your owners manual should show a photo diagrahm of the fuse block...also listing what each fuse is for...:) including rear defrost...some fuses control more than one function. Always replace a fuse with one of the same rating...less does not always work...and to much can keep the fuse from doing it's job...:)

Check your owners manual or look in your fuse box and it usually shows the type of fuse there listed.
