There is a fuse panel under the dash on the drivers side that has fuses in it.if these fuses are good then you may have a bad brake light switch.

Your owners manual should tell you, but look under drivers side dash as well, for a black panel that you undo , and drop down to expose another fuse panel.

ther are 2 fuse boxes 1 under dash and 1 under hood[will be a black box] if you don't find a blown fuse in either one, i suggest you check the brake light switch itself. the switch will be on the pedal assembly above the brake pedal. it may have come unplugged or may just be out of adjustment. some do go bad too. not a hard fix, just very cramped and tight to get to. hope this helps and thank you for choosing fixya.com

Brake light wont light up when brake pedal is pressed

Sounds like a brake lamp switch or fuse. Check all fuses electrically, with a test probe you can purchase from any auto parts store. Go through each fuse with the probe touching the end or tip of the fuse after clipping the lead on the probe to a good ground. If the probe lights up at both ends of the fuse, the fuse is sound, if it only lights up at one end then replace that fuse and if the probe does not light up at all, that fuse is not active so turn on the ignition but dont start the motor. The brake lamp switch is attached to the brake pedal. It may have a single wire or several. All the switch does is connect the brake lamp circuit to an active supply rail so, The switch should have one active wire and the other wire should become active when the pedal is pressed. If it does not, replace the switch. If it does, then you may have two blown bulbs in the rear lamps or a damaged wiring harness to the rear lamps and you should seek the advice of a qualified person. Start with the fuses, then the switch, then the bulbs..and remember, you may have more then one fuse panel in the vehicle so check under the hood too..

Brake light fuses 2003 rav4 can't find

Get a 12V testlight and have an asistant press the brake while the car is on. Do you get juice? NO? Check your BLS or brake light switch, brake relay and/or fuses(not likely). there are 2 places for fuses. under the hood AND under the dash. Good luck. (sound like your bulbs or BLS)

What do the relays and fuses look like under the hook of a 96 s 10 blazer. Someone said to check theses and how do you. My brake lights dont work and the 10A fuse under the dash is good and i replaced the...

Did you check or replace the brake light bulbs?
It is more common to have burnt bulbs than a bad brake light switch or blown fuse.
Do you have orange signal lights and red brake lights at the rear?
Then the signal light switch will not affect the brake lights.....but....
If they are all red and you use the same bulbs for brake and signal....the brake light wiring goes through the signal light switch and could be affected there.
First....check for power getting to the brake light switch......and leaving it with a test light.......then go to the rear....pull a light assembly and check for power getting to the bulbs.no power? follow the wiring back to the switch looking for a bad connection.
The fuses and relays under the hood are usually in a black plastic box labeled fuses and or relays.

the fuses on Japanese cars are scattered in various locations, not just under the hood. look for the fusebox on the driver's side kick pannel for those. (may be opposite on RHD vehicles) also, toyotas, in my experience, are prone to the wiring harness rotting away. look for green powder around the bulbs.
