Wiper motors usually do not have a relay, they are operated directly from the switch. Before you look at wiring, check the fuse, wiper motors are notoriously reliable and something like a switch will go long before the wiper motor. The fuse must be in the main fuse box. The position and function of the fuses is normally marked on the inside of the fuse box cover and also in the owner's handbook. If you don't come right with these, work your way through the fuses looking for a blown one. To ease your search the wiper fuse it should be around 15 to 20 amps.

. You stated could be a logic board inside the motor assembly. I have a 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan. wipers do not work. Motor is only 4 months old. Could this still be an issue? estimate of cost?

No logic board inside the wiper motor . The wiper's have two relays that control them by way of the BCM - body control module . Wiper on relay and wiper high low relay . Both are located in the power distribution center in the engine bay . The wiper / washer switch is a input to the BCM . Check the relay's or swap them out for new one's . Or check out videos on youtube on testing relays . If not the relays could be the switch , wiring or the BCM . Having the BCM check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes would be a good idea .
Do you know what a wiring diagram is . Free here http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter vehicle info. year , make , model an engine size. Under system click on body & accessories then under the subsystems click wipers/washer's .View the diagram to see what all is involved in making the wipers work.

2001 windstar wiper fuse location?

Wiper relays (2) on/off relay an speed relay , location battery junction box . Look at the wiring diagram here http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter vehicle info. year , make , model and engine . System click body & accessories , subsystem click wipers/washers . Click the search button , then the blue link . After viewing the wiring diagram for the wipers , Change systems to electrical distribution , then click junction block . Then the search button an first blue link . Shows the relay position . The wiper switch is a input to the front electronic control module . The relays are also controlled by the electronic control module . Probably has code set in the module . You would need a factory scan tool to check this .

1996 ford ranger wipers wont work fuse ok,new wiper motor, new switch, new relays. what else is there?

Do you have int wipers? If so check the int module its under the dash right side of the steering column I believe. Specifically check the solder joints.

Where is the wiper relay

A wiring diagram doesn't show a relay, just a 25 amp fuse in fuse panel under driver's side of dash. Intermittent working is usually from a loose or poor or corroded connection, or the switch is old and tired, or the motor is old and tired.
Here is one way to check, if you have a test light: when the wipers are not working with wiper switch on high, and key is on, pull off the connector to the wiper/washer motor module (in the engine bay, on the firewall) and check if the purple wire has power. If it does, you probably need to replace the module. Inside the module is a park relay switch (to return wipers to down position when turned off) and a circuit breaker between the motor and ground.
If the purple wire does not have power when key is on and wipers on high, the connection is lost between the switch and the module, or the switch may be malfunctioning. The switch has 5 wires, white wire from 25 amp fuse (power in to switch), a pink wire (for the washer motor), a purple wire (high speed wipers), a dark green wire (low speed wipers), and a gray wire (for the park relay switch inside the wiper/washer motor module). If you see a yellow wire also at the module, that is part of the low speed wiper circuit (the dark green wire) coming from the park relay switch and then to the motor.
Good luck. Post back if further questions, or need more help.

Troubleshoot wipers

Best if you have a wiring diagram of at least the part of
the curcuit your going to work on (wiper circuit)

That applies to any electrical issue, simply can't start your
checking or testing without a road map.

If it were to guess for you,I would say the motor has failed

Even with a wiring diagram it isn't always easy to jump it
once out of the car,to test it. You won't have the internal
wiring diagram for the motor.

The switch you can turn on & use your volt meter at the
wiper motor with it disconnected, but again need to have the
diagram to probe the correct wires

Front windscreen wipers not working has been to the local garage and they cant find whats wrong with it they have tried the usual fuse motor and switch but no joy so any ideas please

Any good garage would check your fuse panel for a bad fuse. You might find a wiring diagram at Autozone.com for FREE. Just register your car and scroll down to the wiring diagrams.

Check either wiper motor by providing a ground wire and then put bypass power to the correct terminals. The new motor should be forced to work this way if it is any good. Then that would mean if it works, that the switch is not getting power or the switch is bad. Check for a bad wire from the switch to the harness. Do a power OFF continuity check on the wires running between the wiper motor and the switch to eliminate a broken wire.

My son has a 2003 Saturn Ion. Recently after cleaning the car. His wipers aon't stop running. I thought it was a relay problem so we replace the relays. Didn't fix it. Next we replaced the wiper motor,...

did he clean the engine compartment. he might have fried the wire to the wiper motor get urself a handy little test light hook that bad boy to a good ground and test the connectors at the wiper motor if ya got power there then its the motor an ya bought a **** one if no power there go back futher in the circut and test the wiper switch see if ya got power there if ya do then its the wiring from the switch to the motor if no then go back further and test all ur relay connectors and fuses ( i hope when u replaced the relays u checked an replaced the fuse to it as well, if not u prob bought a motor for nothing) if ya got power at ur fuses/relays then its the wiring from there to the switch of not then keep going back toward the power souce and youll more then likely find a **** wire of connector. u might need to get a wiring diagram to trace all the wiring back but do the simple stuff first and test the connectors at the motor an switch and fuses/relays and go from there

Front wipers will not operate. checked fuse and relay look ok. back wiper works

Here are a few other things to check beside the fuse and relay:

Check Wiper Motor - the wiper motor is the driving force of the windshield wiper. Feel the motor and listen to a humming sound. If there is no humming, the motor is the problem. Check if the motor is working properly and see to it that its electrical connections are made properly. If you find that the motor is dead and beyond repair, get it replaced immediately.

Check For Break in Connecting Wires - the connecting wires of the motor sometimes go loose and that may cause the windshield wipers to stop working. Also check the battery plug connection which the motor has. Connecting the loose wires properly or fixing/replacing the plug might solve your problem.

Check Wiper Switch - another wiper assembly part that can malfunction is the wiper switch itself. Check for switch malfunction and if you find that is indeed the problem, get it replaced from a mechanic.

Check for Bent Wiper Arms - bent wiper arms can cause the operation of the wipers to be hampered. If the wiper arms are bent beyond repair, get them replaced immediately.

Windshield wipers don't work.Fuse is good and motor is good.No power to motor. The tag to tell what relay is for what is missing. Was wondering if the wipers had a relay and which one it is.

Hello Firerocker.
If your washer motor works there is power in the circuit and ground.
The wiper motor housing needs to be grounded.
If neither one works check for power on the green wire leading into the motor. If nothing there your switch may be bad.
If there is power to the green wire then check for power on the gray wire on low wiper speed and power on purple on high speed.
Here is a diagram if you need it.

Hope this gets your wipers going again.
