Question about 2001 Toyota Echo

1 Answer

I'm trying to replace an Oil Control Valve (p/n 15330-21011) and am having no luck. I removed the single nut that appears to be holding the valve in place but the valve refuses to budge. I have and am looking at the Toyota Maintenance Manual (pg EM-26)for the Echo and it is NO HELP. There is no other reference to this valve in the manual that I can find.

A faucet handle? In Automotive?
If you mean a sink faucet, what brand? Is it single lever? On some, it's not a hex; rather a narrow slotted screw.

Simple steps to replace the Valve Cover Gaskets on a Jaguar XJ8?

Replace the valve cover gasket if the valve cover gaskets are leaking or if they're worn. The procedure is as follows:--
1)First carefully remove the nuts holding the valve cover to the engine head.2
2)Then pull the valve cover off from the engine head .
3)You can use flat-tip screwdriver to remove the valve cover.
4)It will be very dirty inside so you will have to clean the mating surfaces on both the engine head and the valve cover.
5)Take your time and clean it completely.

6)You can use a bead of RTV sealant on both mating surfaces.

7)Then carefully seat the gasket to top of the engine head.
8)The gasket can only be fitted in one way. So fit it properely.
9)Then tightly Press the valve cover to the gasket
10)And tighten the valve cover nuts secure.

This will help.Good Luck.

1990 triton oil pressure relief valve location

Hi Lee, There are two oil pressure relief valves on most vehicles. One is fitted onto the oil pump assembly and another onto the oil filter housing assembly. The oil pump pressure relief valve is located at the front of the engine and is accessed via a blind nut on the side of the unit. The bolt is in the form of a cap, which when removed can be seen to be holding down under tension a spring, which in turn presses the valve. If the pressure becomes too high the valve body is pushed upwards and releases an amount of oil, thereby maintaining the required pressure. The valve built into the oil filter housing works in much the same way, but its job is to allow oil circulation in the event of a blocked oil filter. regards John

How to fix a front leaky oil seal in a 1995 Toyota Camry LE

Three seals to check. easiest is the valve cover seal. Number and remove the 4 wires going into your spark plugs. remove 4 nuts holding the cover and replace seal.
Next easiest is the distributor O-ring. Remove air filter assembly remove the distributor cap, then the distributor. With the valve cover still off, loosen the 2 bolts that clamp the distributor down. Remove the 2 terminal leads going into the distributor (4 wire terminal/2 wire terminal) Mark the case of the distributor and the case of the head with one line so you can line it back up on reinstallation. remove the 3 bolts holding the distributor down. Replace O-ring. replace distributor, align, tighten the 2 bolts, then tighten the 3 bolts. replace terminal wiring and cap. replace air filter assembly. Replace valve cover with new gasket. Place spark plug wires back into their proper places. The last one is the oil pan gasket. Drain all oil and remove all blots holding the pan. drop the pan and replace the gasket. Put it all back into place. Do not over tighten the pan bolts as this will cause the gasket to deform, making it leak again.

I have a slow oil leak and my hoses seem fine so I think its my valve cover gaskets. How do you replace them?

try nipping up the hold down nuts or bolts first, if that doesnt work remove any hoses that attach to the cover, undo any nut or bolt remove the cover, clean it of all old gasket etc, also the matching surface on the head or heads, place new gasket on the cover with some gasket cement, also put cement on the matching head surface, replace the cover and tighten the nuts or bolts and replace the hoses etc

Leaks oil looks like from valve cover

You have to remove the spark plugs cables and remove the four nuts that you see when the cables are removed.

When the four nuts are removed, simply raise the valuve cover. When replacing the gasket, make sure you get the gromets as well. Those sometimes get worn or crack since they are more exposed than the value cover gasket. Make sure that you clean the cover from oil and replace the gasket with no use of silicon.

Good Luck.
