Classic dirty throttle body syndrome. Disconnect the battery again. Clean your throttle body with throttle body cleaner, needs to be nice and shiny. When finished, hook the battery back up and drive around for 20 or so, so the computer can re-learn a properly functioning throttle body.

Your computer learned some bad habits with the dirty TB, so when the battery was disconnected, it thought the TB was clean and functioning properly, hence your problem.

Total cost to fix your problem is about $5 for the can of TB cleaner.

Why wont my 2002 olds alero start when its cold out

One of the coil packs or the ignition module is probably bad. Test for spark when cold. If no spark on any coils suspect the ignition module or crank position sensor. If spark is gone on only one coil check the plugs and wires to that coil pack. If theplugs and wires are ok then replace thge coil pack. Don't forget the obvious load test the battery and clean the battery connections. If the check engine light is on run any diagnostic codes and repair

Very bad engine miss, looking for sparkplug location

Need to take off the plastic on the top of the engine (the plastic box) and the air cleaner hose that goes over to the throttle body. There you will see 6 coil packs. Remove one at a time (2 bolts each), under the coil pack are the spark plugs. I recommend using AC Delco 41-103's for the plugs, will idle better with these. When pushing the coils back on, make sure you hear or feel a little click, too many people install these back on incorrectly, which causes more misfires. If the misfire isn't corrected with the new plugs, check the coils. I also recommend cleaning your throttle body while you're at it, make sure to disconnect the battery while doing this. After it's clean, drive around for 5 miles or so to reset the computer.

If it has a very bad misfire, your check engine light should be on and OR blinking. If it's blinking, don't drive it. You'll probably pull a code of p0300, p0301 & so on which will tell you which cyclinder to focus in on.

How to change spark plugs

You'll need to remove the top engine cover. There is a coil pack on each plug. Unbolt and disconnect each coil pack and pull up to remove the coil pack and plug boot. You'll need a 5/8 in spark plug socket, an extension, and ratchet. The plugs are mounted down in the head. Make sure that the engine is completely cooled down before removing the plugs.

2002 kia optima has intermittent miss; usually upon first cranking, sometimes when stopped at redlights (misses so bad almost dies). About 9 months ago I replaced plugs and wires, I bought Iridium plugs...

I would replace all of the coil packs. If one goes bad the others are soon to follow. Also one weak one can kill the others. You may want to consider using non-OEM if the dealer wants $100 or more per coil. You can find non-OEM for maybe $30.

When the check engine light is flashing, it indicates a serious condition. You need to have the car scanned for trouble codes and diagnosed, making guesses is going to waste money.

Trail blazers are known to have coil packs go bad, and you will loose spark on a cylinder. I would first get the check engine light scanned to see what the computer found. The etc fuse may have gone bad due to a wheel sensor issue, but, get the check engine light looked at first.

Check engine light comes on read the code and number 3 cylinder shows misfire

Could be a bad plug, bad coil pack or bad injector. Try moving coil pack to another cylinder, if not that, move plug.
