SOURCE: Transmission fluid leaking back, 1988 Ford Bronco

your output seal on the tranny or input seal on your transfer case is bad. you have to pull your transfer case to tell. this is a pretty straight forward job. block wheels. put transfer case in neutral. drop front and rear drive lines.diconnect transfer case shift linkage. there is a short commponent connecting the trans to the transfer case. the bolt on either end face each other. remove the bolts to the transmission. the transfer case is heavier than it looks, i suggest getting help. pull back on the transfer case until it will drop down. it will pull out a bit because of the trans output shaft. replace what will probibly turn out to be the tranny output shaft seal and reassemble in reverse order.

SOURCE: What kind of fluid do

If the vehicle has an Automatic Transmission: Dextron II

If the vehicle has a Manual Trans, its complicated.
Depending on Trans model:
The 77mm 5-speed and 89mm 4-speed overdrive use Dextron II ATF.
The 117mm 4-speed uses API GL5 SAE 80W90 gear lubricant.
GM recommends Synchromesh Trans Fluid (1052931) in both the 85mm 4-speed and 5-speed.
Hope this helps!

Check the fluid level in the transmission. If the level is good you should take it to a reputable transmission shop for further diagnosis.

I ve a 1986 camaro 2.8 all of a sudden it quit changing in 3rd andoverdrive it just reves like it is in nuetral

This is a transmission internal problem. Wither a solenoid or broken band or possibly a low transmission fluid issue. Check the transmission fluid level. If that is good then you will have to have the transmission serviced and possibly rebuilt.

96 Camaro automatic transmission is "slipping." Is there something that can cause this that doesn't require a transmission replacement?

The obvious cheap fix solutions would be checking and changing transmission fluid, and checking and replacing transmission fluid filter. If you do all this and it continues to slip, the next fix would be removal and cleaing of the valve assembly, a detriorated filter can clog the valve assembly and cause it to duplicate the symptons of a failing transmission, but it is a last resort next to rebuilding and replacing the transmission. Hope this helps.

When coming to a stop then accelerationmy camaro doesbt want to move it shakes really bad until it shifts into second gear then its fine

sounds like it could be a tune up problem, however the transmission part makes me wonder if the Torque Converter Clutch is stuck on.

Check fluid level in transmission and may want to take it to a transmission shop to see if it is locking up at a full stop.
