    Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P1401 indicates that Self-Test has detected DPFE sensor circuit input above the maximum.

    Possible causes:

    -- DPFE SIG open.

    -- DPFE SIG shorted to VREF or PWR.

    -- VREF shorted to PWR.

    -- SIG RTN open.

    -- Damaged DPFE sensor.

    -- Damaged PCM.

    PCM = Powertrain Control Module (also known as an "ECM" in older vehicles).

    You can think of the PCM as the main computer, or brain, of the electronic engine control (EEC) system on your truck. It is located along the upper edge of the firewall toward the passenger's side of the engine compartment.

    The PCM receives input from various sensors and other electronic components (switches, relays). Based on information received and programmed into its memory, the PCM generates output signals that control your engine's ignition timing and fuel injection (among other things) through an assortment of relays, solenoids and actuators. The PCM also plays a significant role in controlling automatic transmission shifts.

    The EEC system is designed to minimize emissions while optimizing fuel economy and driveability, and the PCM is programmed with that objective in mind.

Car sometimes wont start unless you spray starter fluid, just replaced filter. oem codes are p0734 and p1401

P0734 = 4th gear incorrect ratio (that's the torque converter 'lock-up' clutch - inside the converter).
P1401 = doesn't exist for 2002 Hyundai Accent's
P1401 exists for 2000 Accent = DM-TL Air Pump Motor Curent Draw is higher or lower than expected (normal is 17-36 mA). DM-TL = Diagnostic Module for Tank Leakage & is part of the Evaporative Emissions Control System.

These two DTC's are not associated/part of the Accent's Engine Managemenet System (EMS).
Best to have a qualified/certified Hyundai Service Technician properly diagnose this starting problem with your vehicle.
