Question about Mazda MAZDA3

1 Answer

I have Mazda 3 (2005) 1.6 engine. CEL is on when temperature is below 10-12 degrees Celsius and speedometer doesn't work. Mechanic said it is P0610 error and that I have to replace PCM. Could it be fixed instead? Thanks for any help.

If you are based in the USA, all ECMs on US sold vehicles have a federal emissions compliance warranty covering ECM breakdown (Which a P0610 is) for 8 years or 80,000 miles. ALL, and dont listen if the dealership says 5-50 or 3-36, its federal law, and they must comply unless they can prove owner non-compliance damaged the component. (IE-aftermarket performance reflash installed, aftermarket components installed that connect to ecm in any way, or repairs that affect voltage or electronics have been cited such as wrong alternator installed or aftermarket alarms with remote starting that were improperly wired).

There is a recall on the dash cluster for your truck. Check with dealer but don't let them give you the run around.

SOURCE: temperature gauge not working

Yep!... take it back to the mechanic and tell him/her to recheck the system (there's no such DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) as "bad electrical connection"... somebody's pulling your leg!
Whenever the 'CHECK ENGINE' (Service Engine Soon) light comes on, the ECU (Engine Control Unit) sets a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). These codes identify the particular engine management system which caused the light to come on.
You'll need to use/find an OBDII (On-Board Diagnostic) Scanner to retrieve any code(s) which may have been stored in the ECU computer. Afterward, we might be able to help you DIAGNOSE the problem and perhaps eventually fix the problem.

How to change from Celsius to fehrenheit

On the Celsius scale, the freezing and boiling points of water are exactly 100 degrees apart, thus the unit of the Fahrenheit scale, a degree Fahrenheit, is 5/9 of a degree Celsius. The Fahrenheit scale coincides with the Celsius scale at -40 °F, which is the same temperature as -40 °C.

An OBD reader is the tool that is used to read the codes when the CEL comes on. Big autoparts stores like autozone read them for free. That code will tell you what the problem is but not exactly how to fix the issue.

How to change from Celsius to Fahrenheit

To convert degrees C to degrees F, Multiply the Centigrade temperature by 9, then divide by 5, then add 32

Or, degrees F= (9/5 degrees C) + 32
Here's link to website which explains difference between Fahrenheit & Centigrade scales, & how to convert between them:

I have a problem with my car Peugeot 207 1.4 8 valve petrol which was serviced and had changed thermostat. Everything was fine until winter started, at temperatures below 5 degrees Celsius temperature...

This is totally normal. All radiators contain an antifreeze/ antiboil component when filled as per manufacturers instructions. This stabilizers the temp of the coolant, reducing fluctuations in temperature. The thermostat is heat responsive. Basically a piece of spring steel heated to a temperature then cooled, so as to retain the memory of when to react. Replacing the water temp sensor on this occasion was probably unnecessary, tho in saying that, I have replaced mine & friends with beneficial results.

Engine broke due to low temperature

The water expands up to more than 9% when it freeze below 0 degrees Celsius. Due to this phenomena, during the extreme cold weather when the ambient temperature falls below 0 degrees the cylinder blocks of the automotive engines often burst or crack badly.
This damage can be prevented by using the antifreeze coolant in the cooling system.
