Find the back of the cig lighter, pull the wire off. Then grasp the back of the device and turn (lefty loosey - righty tighty). You may have to hold the front (remove the lighter and hold its socket) to keep it from turning. There may be a ground wire on the shell (the part you are turning) that you will have to disconnect.

While the location may be difficult to access, the actual mechanics of the task are as simple as watching Ice Cream melt.

You have a short or a defective cig lighter plug. Check with an ohms meter for continuity.

Sounds like the hot wire grounded when it came out. Locate the fuse and replace the fuse for that and the radio and everything should come back on.
