Question about 1996 Ford Explorer

1 Answer

Sometime wont start

My Explorer has the v6 engine. Recently put in new plugs and wires. the only way to get it to start sometimes is to skirt a shot of starting fluid down the throttle body. Also will die if the AC is turned on, wont idle. Could it be in the distributor, injectors, Or IAC valve?

is your car manual transmission? if so, have your clutch master checked, that might be the problem. if it's an automatic transmission try checking your ATF level it's a must to maintain proper oil levels. also oil change when it reaches 6months or so for best performance. the last thing you'll check is your fuel, is it below or in the "Empty" part of your fuel gauge? hope this helps.

If it just clicks when you try to start it then you need to check the battery and alternator. The anti-theft system wont even crank the solenoid.

You may have to inspect the starter relay or the starter. Also take a look at the wiring for some loose connections or bad wires that needs replacing.

Spark Plug Location for 1997 Toyota 4 Runner ?

Follow the plug wires to the location of the plugs. You will need swivel scokets or sometime called wobble sockets to get to where there located and long extentions, plus a lot of time!!!!
