Something is wrong with the fuel system

I have a 1987 gl10 turbo 4x4 and when i drive it acts like it isnt getting fuel. it jerks really hard and i cant even get it to 20 miles an hour. we put a new fuel pump and fuel filter in it and ran perfect for two weeks and now its doing the same thing. does anybody have any ideas? i am completly stumped.

Check for water or rust in the fuel tank. You can do this by removing the new filter and carefully dumping its contents into a clear glass jar. Let it settle and see what you have. If it is clear with no water or sediment, then your fuel problem is somewhere else. Keep me posted. Good luck. Chip

My 94 k2500 6.5 turbo diesel is idling high but when I tap the accelerator it goes back down and idle rough, when I try to drive it will jerk or surge, and it will also blows smoke what is wrong?pmd.

check that the turbo is fully operational ( variable vanes are free to move , actuator and vacuum hose are in good condition
the smoke is an indication that it is on on the job
the high idle may be from excess fuel and not enough air
and the rough idle and jerking indicates a air fuel ratio problem back again to the turbo
If you have fault codes run them and consider putting it on a chassis dyno for a full test of the pump and turbo

REPLACE THE FUEL FILTER FIRST.CHECK FUEL PRESSURE.IT SHOULD BE 41 - 47 PSI. MAKE SURE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR VACUUM HOSE IN PLACE AND GETTING VACUUM. IF ALL IS GOOD FUEL PRESSURE IS LOW.FUEL PUMP MORE LIKELY THE PROBLEM.

Car jerks with loud knock when shifting from park to drive

Ok the knock is your flex discs on the drive shaft are bad along with the carrier bearing. Replace before you get stranded or it comes loose.
Fuel distributor may need work if it is hard to start when warm, Replace OVP relay by battery also, its always an issue.

you really need to test fuel pressure/did you replace filter under car/you should also replace fuel regulator on top frt of eng./but most likely the fuel pump has moved on the mounting bracket and allowing fuel to leak back into the tank (low pressure)
