There may be a ecm flash that would enable you to lower the 4th gear lockup, but why would you want to do this? Unless you are driving on extended level surfaces the lower speed would 'lug' the engine (not good) and it would probably use more gas-the dealer may be able to do this, using a Tech II or similar device, don't know if they would though. Your overdrive gear is for highway speeds, not around town driving-it's actually better for your trans converter not to go into lockup at low speeds, and is probably suggested in your owners manual to put the selector in '3' for exclusive around-town driving.

Which gear do you drive in when you drive d4,d3,2,or 1

D4, that is overdrive in a 4 speed automatic. It should go into 4th gear at about 45 mph, although you may not feel it shift. The only reason to use D3 is if you are driving slow, like in city traffic, and the D4 keeps shifting in and out (from 4th to 3rd and back), as if it is "hunting gears". Most people just put it in D4 and drive away.

Why does my car only have 3rd and 4th gear ?

I assume that you are talking automatic in which case run the fault codes to check for failed servos and solenoids relating to the missing gears . Have a pressure test done to check for mechanical internal failures and check the band and clutch adjustment as well.

Audi a4 1.8 automatic gear not engaging 1st 2nd or 4th. only drives in 3rd

It is in "limp" mode which limits the transmission to only 3rd gear. The transmission fluid level needs to be checked and the "basic settings" need to be reset in the Transmission Control Module.

Changing gear at high rpm

Sounds as if there is a cable not connected back on the throttle body's accelerater cable part. There should be one connect there coming from the transmission. I don't normally work on your model car as I am in the US but another thing you should do after cleaning the thottle body and plate id to disconnect the battery for about 10 minutes so the computer can relearn its idle. If you cleaned the throttle plate of carbon build up it now will close differently but your vehicles computer is still set at the old setting throught the throttle position sensor. This won't cause your problem but it should be done. Also check the throttle position sensor connector.

I have a 2000 chevy 2500 series 4x4 silverado truck with 6.0 liter v8 and a 4l80e automatic transmission in it. It won't shift up into third. Can you HELP PLEASE?

if it won't shift into 3rd either automatically or manually, then your 3rd/4th gear clutch is worn out. You're probably looking at a rebuild.

Trans drops into 3rd gear won,t shift to 4th

DTC P0734 is "4th gear incorrect ratio" - that's your torque converter 'LOCK UP Clutch" It's worn out (or you're using the wrong Trans Fluid required by Hyundai - SPIII OR Both). The P1624 is simply the Trans Control Unit (computer) communicating to the Engine Control Module (ECM computer) MIL - on request signal to ECM = asking it to turn on "Check Engine" light. MIL = Malfunction Indicator Lamp. When the torque converter 'lock up" clutch slips or doesn't engage, the trans automatically returns to 3rd gear and stays there (it's called 'fail safe' mode) until you cycle the ignition key, then everything resets until the malfunction occurs again.
You'll need to have an AT (Automatic Transaxel) tester hooked up to verify this. Hyundai has a Service Bulletin specifically for "gear incorrect ratio' codes. If when you changed the trans fluid, was it done at a Hyundai Service Center? If not, someone may have installed the wrong fluid.

Automatic gears

Honda transmissions,as well as most other overdrive transmissions, should be driven at all times in drive 4,or the overdrive position, with the exception of severe driving conditions, such as towing a load, extremely hilly terrain,or long uphill grades, the trans should be taken out of overdrive, and placed in the drive 3 position. This is to prevent the perpetual shifting back and forth of the trans from 3rd into 4th,back to 3rd,back to 4th,back to 3rd,that would eventually damage both the 3rd and 4th gear clutch discs and components.
