SOURCE: ALARM RANDOMLY GOES OFF!!

the factory fit alarm is not voltage sensing .The best advice is to go to VW garage and get them to read the alarm causes,(they can check the last 4).this will give you a good idea where the fault lies.ie door lock mechanism, interior monitor etc..You cannot start looking for problem until you know alarm cause..

SOURCE: my car alarm goes off for no reason

I have the same problem with my Z3 alarm going off, a local BMW specialist has traced it to the pitch sensor which has been damaged due to a water leak, the wires are also corroded. They have quoted £200 to fix it, but advise that the water leak is sealed first because it'll just get damaged again. I've had a look round and it appears the water is getting in by the off side light cluster via the boot gutter.

Alarm will not turn off on uplander

Had the same problem Found out it was a Small break in the soldier joint in the Key holder control.

Simply the bob that goes on your key ring to open the door locks has a bad spot where the contact for the alarm set is bad. If it gets moved,(in your pocket . hanging on a key holder , etc) it will send a signal to the car to check the alarm.

Hi There isn`t much that can be done here, I would suggest you take the car to the dealership if the alarm is original, if it is after market then take it to any alarm shop, it needs to be reconfigured.
Good luck.

Theft alarm problem

Same problem here but with a Toyota Sienna '99. It took $600 in diagnostic work but the problem was a low voltage electrical short in a switch that was part of the passenger door lock. Specialty shop found it by placing voltage testing equipment on 4 to 6 wires at a time that ran into the cars computer. They recorded any voltage spikes over all these wires 24hrs/day over 3 days to find the bad switch. Snipping the wire to that switch meant the alarm would always go off if the locked car was opened with a key in the passenger door lock but we we're ok with it. Car was about 5yrs. old when this ocurred but we never had another problem of any kind with it for another 4 years. Thanks, Dan
