I have s 2001 Chrysler town and country just replaced the radiator and now two months later I'm getting a p1491 how do I resolve this issue

Check fuse for fan relay in fuse box under hood. If fuse is good then you need to replace fan relay sender to pass your inspection.

you should check the Radiator fan control relay circuit,it is located under the hook inside the fuse box. Check your fuse first.

I have a chrysler 2003 town & country - the check engine light came on and it has 2 codes - P1684 & P1491. Can you tell me what the problem might be?


P1491 Radiator fan relay control circuit, Most likely you need a fan relay or fan module.
P1684 Battery was disconnected, this code will not turn on CEL

I was in a minor fender bender ( bumped the car in front of me and did little cosmotic damage.) After that my check engine light came on. The code is P1491 Manufacturer Control Axillary Emissions...


The DTC (Data Trouble Code) P1491 for Chrysler-Jeep is for the Radiator Fan Control Relay Circuit, and the radiator fan control relay is located between the radiator and the AC condenser, and there is the possibility that a collision could have damaged the radiator control relay or the wiring. Here is an image of a chrysler radiator control relay to help assist you.

the relay is located in the power distribution box under the hood the relay will be a square black or gray cube just pull out and make sure you rerplace it with the same type relay. refer to your owners manual for any questions regarding the fuses and relays

It overheats. Later found that the radiator fan stopped working.

Radiator has inlet and outlet, top side of the radiator is outlet and boton side you have pipe that is inlet pipe so you can get thermostat on the top side where outlet pipe fited remove the pipe then remove the some polts on the thermostat housing.when you fitted new thermostad dont forget to put new gasket atherwise it will leaks.
