Could be the altenator. They can fault intermitantly and often bring on more lights than just the charge light. The charge voltage should be checked when the lights are on.

Which lights? the night lights or the symbol lights. if the symbol lights are the lights that are on, you need to tell me which ones. you said all lights but if it is the symbol lights then you are telling me the battery light ,oil light ,temp light, abs light, low coolant, washer fluid, check engine, brake and so on,
let me know what is on.

Toyota 4runner 84-87 dash lights come on battery water tap oil temp AT all lights are red my daughter says she took to local mechanic he said lights didnt come on when he had it lights only on...

You may want to get the alternator checked. I have a couple of these vehicles and when a alternator is going out or theres another voltage problems you will get some strange happenings with the dash lights etc.. They will also drop out the high beam side of the headlights in low voltage situations. Loose brushes in the alternators will cause this, as I have found in a couple of aftermarket units.

Bought the truck for my 16 yr.old, the heater coil was bypassed, reconnected it expecting a leak, no leak, but also no heat in cab and the motor temp reached 210. took the coil out ran water from the...

the temp door actuator may not be working, or the door is stuck. see if you can run the temp to cold and hot and see if the motor is trying to move the door. I cant tell you exactly where the door is but I think its on the passenger side.

Is the car actually overheating or are you just getting a red temp symbol on the dash? What does your temp gauge say? If it is indeed overheating and they did replace all the parts you say they did, they probably didn't bleed the cooling system properly. If any air is trapped in the system, it will cause a overheat condition. Take it back and tell them to bleed it right. Make sure they tightened up your radiator overflow/fill bottle cap as well...turn it until it "snaps". Now if the car is not physically overheating, and the temp gauge shows normal with the needle straight up (~190F), but you show a red temp symbol on the dash, your coolant level sensor in the overflow/fill bottle cap could be defective, the harness that plugs into it could be loose and/or your coolant level is too high. Lower the level until it is in the cross-hatch area printed on the bottle and reseat the connector. If it still has the red temp symbol, chances are very good the sensor in the bottle went bad. Mine went bad on my 04 Jetta 2.0 and I got a constant red symbol on the dash. Hope this helps you out.
