Question about 1999 Chrysler 300M
The heater core and its casing is on the passenger side and usually leaks to the passenger side. Replacing the heater core, and even getting it out to check it requires a great deal of labor on a Chrysler 300m. If the driver side carpet is getting wet it could be the AC condensation isn't draining properly through the drain tube, usually because its plugged. You can find the end of this tube coming out the fire wall on the engine side. Usually compressed air is used to blow the clog out. You could also loosen up the clog by carefully using a wire, like bailing wire. 2 things: First, if the car isn't overheating and you don't seem to be losing radiator fluid/water and Second, if its happening when running the AC, it could be the clogged AC drain tube. A leaking heater core can still leak when AC is run and not heat, because engine circulates hot water through heater core under the dash all the time so its ready when needed, but due to ease of checking, first check the drain tube and see if that fixes it. Especially if car isn't overheating, and if its been occurring when running the AC. Hope this helps.

Typically if your leaking coolant inside the car, it indicates your heater core is split and leaking. Replacing the heater core is quite the job. It requires removal of the dash board and heater box. i replaced one in a 97 Cirrus at work last week and it was a 6 hour job. If your not mechanically inclined i would definitley recomend phoneing around for quotes to local auto repair shops and getting it done profesionally.

The heater core that is located on the passenger side can leak antifreeze out into the floorboard but it is usually gets wet on that side. If the water is really antifreeze, than more than likely that is why your car is overheating and smoking. It still would be coming from the heater core or a connection at the heater core. Also you should be smelling antifreeze. This said and it is antifreeze, its leaking under the dash from the heater. That means you will need to get the heater removed to see where it is leaking at.
