Question about 1988 Cadillac Brougham

1 Answer

1988 CADI Eldorado Barrites, 4.5 liter v8: locked keys in car, call locksmith, put air bags in door for space in order to slide his metal stick in to unlock, pull the handle, push the electric door lock button/switch, did get manual slide lock up to unlock but doors would not open. He than pulled the keys out of ignition and out the crack. Guess what, both doors would not unlock even thought the manual lock slide went up & down. Doors sound they are unlocking but thumb button on door handle just goes in, door will not open. Is there some kind of theft protection, which kinks in when you mess the doors and locks inside? Help, I have my keys but car doors will not open.

OK, this the guy who owns 1988 CADI Eldorado, talked to Cadillac dealership mechanics, there is no computer system in that year CADI, so no system prevented me from unlocking doors, even with my key. Here the answer to my dilemma, a Slim Jim was used first, that procedure knocked the easy to knock off linkage going to the door handle. Bad move had to have a window broken out and door panels taken off to fix linkage, costly mistake, locking keys in car, stupid of me having the spare key in the car.

You most likely have a central locking system that will stay locked until you can unhook the battery. This is sounds like a similar problem I had with my 95 BMW.

Opening hoods latch is inside cannot get in but I will attempt unlocking the hood from outside, pulling on cable if findable. Thanks, I will disconnect battery in hopes a reboot of system will work, I will let you know if works.

Good luck. I wasn't so lucky as my battery was in the trunk. Luckily I had a spare window and I had to break my window out.

I have a 1988 cadillac elderado and my keys are in the trunk... My car doors are locked as well. How can I get them out without calling a lock Smith?

Does your car door locks have small lift up knobs on interior doors? You would push down to our ck car. If you do then get a metal coat hanger and small wood wedge.
then untwist coat hanger end create a loop on end so you think it would slide around door lock.
gently pull top of door away from body and of car see if you can put wedge in to hold door slightly. The goal is to insert coat hanger down so you can maneuver over lock, once you do pull up.
you should bend coat hanger thinking of how you will slide into car and long enough to turn and twist until you unlock.
metal coat hangers can be obtained at a dry cleaners.

My toyota tazz 130i 2002 model immobiliser is not working it switches on but does not start what do i do to start the car

The locks issue could be because water has gotten onto the master (drivers) lock panel, usually under the drivers window. Happens sometimes if the weather stripping on the door is worn or damaged. If it hasnt been happening a long time then it may dry out on its own if you give it time and it doesnt keep getting wet. As for the car not starting, does the car have an anti-theft device? It would be one that uses a special key with a sensor built into it (possibly a metal nub on the metal key shaft) (wouldnt let me add link but that is a link to an example of a type of key I'm talking about)

I locked my keys in my 04 tahoe

ok this is what you do to get in without AAA or a locksmith. find a long piece of metal bendable wire. (metal coat hanger) and make it striaght and make a hook on the end of it. Next find a wedge (door wedge works). put the wedge in the side of the door. where the front door meets the rear door. and push it in to slightly open the door. Its easiest to insert to wedge at the top side corner near the top of the window and slide the wedge down to near the door handle to make the opening wider. next (with the wedge stuck in the door crack) slide the long metal wire into the opening at the top of the door corner and either press the unlock switch or grab the door handle and open the car. good luck! hope this helps ya

Keys locked in truck

First you need to wedge something between the door and the body. Wood or plastic. Metal will gouge the paint if you aren't careful. Those kid wooden building blocks are excellent. The one that is shaped like a triangle. You need to wedge it in just enough to slide a rod between the door and the body. Put the wedge on the top end of the door at the rear. Now you need to find a rod to slide in and hit the power lock button. A hanger isn't strong enough. You will likely need to bend it to get the right angle. But if you don't have any rods look for a curved stick. Keep trying and you will succeed. Let me know if you get it.

96 Toyota Camry keys are not working to open locked door from outside. First the passenger side and now the driver's side door.

Try spraying some silicon lubricant into the keyhole and slide the key in and out a few times.

If this does not work you may have to remove the interior door panel and trouble shoot the lock mechanism.

It's also possible the lock cylinders are worn and need to be rebuilt. This can be done by a qualified locksmith (look for a AAA certified locksmith). Or you can order new lock cylinders and get them re-keyed to match your ignition key.
