This engine is sucking air,and to much air causes a badly running engine,so put your ears over the engine and listen you will hear air sucking from because that is the problem.adrian

How to do a tune up on a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant 4 cyl

Hi there,

The good news is.... very little is required for a tuneup.

Your vehicle is equipped with a PCM/ECM which controls all the engine parameters, based on the signal received from the engine's various sensors etc. The PCM will also control your idle speeds.

So, this means all you need to do is replace things like spark plugs (ensure correct gap and fit when engine is cold); air filters, engine oil and filters.

If your car is not running correctly after your tuneup, then are diagnostic check will need to be done to determine which circuit requires attention.

Cheers,

How do I change from a 2barrel Carb to a 4 barrel Carb. I no I need to change to an Intake manifold that suports a 4 barrel carb. Changing the Intake manifold is the question. It's on a 1973 Chevy Impala...

There is no difference in intakes on how they bolt on, both intakes bolt on the same, just make sure you use new gasgets, and also use red silacone on each end insted of the rubber gasgets they supply with the gasget kit so you get a better seal.

Have a 88chevy pickup ,it runs real rough misses thouhjt out no power.I have replaced the module it has new fuel pump distribritor oxygen sensor most sensors are new with in a year. i have replace intake...

Did you disconnect the timing feedback connector above the distributer when timing? If the cat. converter is plugged the engine will run like it has no power and usually sets a rich mixture or O2 sensor code.

Hi, I neeed to know what the torque pattern is for

If your installing a new head gasget, the torque spects and pattern will come with it. If not and you are installing a new head gasget you have to use new head bolts, the short bolts witch go in next to exhaust manafold are 43 ft. lbs. and the longer ones in the center of the head are 46 ft. lbs. start with the one in the middle by exhaust and next one in center of head next to it and do the rest in a circle pattern, after you got them all torque than you have to turn each one 1/4 turn, thats why you have to use new bolts that 1/4 turn stretches the bolts. If you don't understand this go to auto zones web sight thats where i found it. I just did one 2 weeks ago.

Two front cylinders are low

If your going to chg. head gasget, as long as you got the head off you would be smart to have a valve job done too. That could be why you lost compression in the 2 cyls. burnt valves will cause loss of compression. But take note if you elect to have a valve job done you also run the risk of it to start useing oil because of the increase in compression on the oil rings with that many miles it can happen.

Wont start

Check the backside bottom of the carb. there's a vacuum port there. Make sure it's plugged up. How's you timing? Also try rotating distributor back and forth. It may be a timing issue. Not enough or too much.

Rough idleing

Did what in a tuneup? If done yourself, are you sure everything is connected correctly? Spark plug leads?
Was it running OK before the tuneup?
Was the throttle/ throttle body touched at all?
Carbon can build up in the throttle body of the Corolla, which (will/ may) eventually interfere with the throttle butterfly seating properly. Too much air is available at idle, can cause rough running.
If the idle bypass air was "adjusted" at tuneup, maybe it was incorrectly done.
Did anyone change the spark setting?
