Question about 2005 Honda CR-V

1 Answer

Hello, my 2005 crv idles really loud it makes a rumbling noise when idling and also when i take my foot off the gas. Also every once in a while it has a problem starting it will just barely start, it has a very weak turnover and as it is starting makes a terrible noise. I thought it might be the alternator but that is fine and the battery has also been changed less than a year ago. Any ideas, thank you for any input.

Car stalls when foot off gas pedel does not hold idle

these trucks are equipped with an idle speed control motor. What you're describing sounds like that part has stopped working. The part is designed to maintain idle when gas pedal is released. Now if you hear an audible hissing noise under the hood, then theres a vacuum leak which can cause the same problem, but it sounds like the idle control motor. Good luck.

Ruff Idle

the clicking noise will be a relay working so find it by feel and you will have the problem source. You will then have to find out why the circuit to the relay is intermittent to cause the clicking

1998 Honda Accord engine rumbles and stops

rumbles?, did the RPM drop below 800 RPM? that is called idle failure
and when it does, idle can go to 400 rpm and will shake hard.
and is normal for illegal idle speeds. so post that first.
post that engine stalls
and that the RPM is 400-500 just before the stall.
then post if the fast right foot can save the stall (a key test !!!!)
if easy the ISC is sticking.
if tad hard the EGR is stuck open'
if impossible to save. then more possible (many)

Jeep heat is not working and when I am driving has a loud rumbling sound every once in a while.when I am stopped car seems to idle to high and wants to take off by itself.

Sounds like you have several different problems.

For the heater you may just be low on fluid in the radiator. Your thermostat may also be stuck open.

The loud rumbling could be several things as well. You could have a CV boot, Universal that is going out or gone already, It could also be a brake rotor issue or a wheel bearing.

Does the idle ever operate in a normal range or does it always idle high and wants to take off.

My 2005 Kia Optima stalls when sitting at an idle. I have to keep my foot on the gas in order to keep the car running.

Check for vacuum leak in engine area. It will make a hissing noise. Need to do this while engine is running. Leaks are most common do to a disconnected or cracked vacuum line.

My 95 nissan maxima is idling rough and then stalling when i let off the gas or am stopped at a light or stop sign; i have replaced the coolant temperature sensor, not it. Took it to the nissan dealership...

the problem is fuel related and nowhere else
it indicates a vacuum leak , either at the manifold , brake booster , transmission actuator hose/unit for the transmission or hoses that control under that dash
bad at stopping at light indicates that it is the brake booster
simple test is to put the hand brake on, start the engine and if it idles ok , put your foot on the brake
if still ok move vent controls ,
if with the foot on the brake it plays up , replace the brake booster

Car making loud humming noise from the air intake or air filter when idling ,a/c on and pressing gas petal.

the idle air bypass valve is making noise and resonating through the air inlet the valve needs to be replaced there is also a revised hose to the valve to reduce noise if it hasn't already been replaced

Oil pressure light on at idle

Don't delay on this. Take the vehicle in and have the oil pressure sensor checked. It could be just the sensor or it could be something more serious. A drop in oil pressure could lead to catastrophic engine failure.
