Driving time after code reset - 1997 Ford F150 Regular Cab

  • Anonymous Mar 15, 2011

I'm not certain of your actual question, If you have reset a trouble code on the vehicle with a computer interface the code will dissapear immedately, if you disconnected the battery for 24hrs to get the code to clear it may pop right back up, if your asking how long a cleared code should stay off after its cleared, it will stay off as long as the problem is corrected.
If you have another question that I haven't answered post it again and I will give it a shot, the more information the better.

If you are asking about how long before the code would come up again after resetting, it is 2 drive cycles.
Until that time, the DTC P1000 is set ( tests not completed ).

Here is the write up on Ford drive cycles

Catalytic converter monitor will not let me smog car inspite of 1month driving and 700 miles on car

can be a bad cat /sensor / computer or wiring usually takes about a 100 to 125 miles on most vehicles to reset after clearing a code dead battery or replacing battery but thats if all systems are working properly if it was reset because of a code and that part of system hasnt reset than more than likely a problem with a component or system from original code

Hi I have gtr215 i got some problem while driving fult code shown up c2161 i have changed rectifire still same problem

Try disconnecting battery momentarily then reconnect. This should reset code. Some systems will reset after some driving time.

My qx4. Infiniti ran low on oil cut off while I was driving it started a few times after I put oil in it it cranks but won't start

Probably low oil created an error code and needs to be reset. Sometimes disconnecting the battery overnight will reset the "computer" if that doesn't work you'll need mechanic or dealer. Or a family member or good friend help you find the way to reset. You can probably google make year model and "reset error codes" you may come across a youtube explanation.

How to reset the codes in a 2001 Mitsubishi Monerto Sport

The PCM's have a keep alive memory built in them. When you cut power for an extended amount of time, this resets. It can cause a rough idle and rough run for a short time (which could be days or weeks). Depends on driving habits. It has to relearn. With a hand held computer to the car, it takes up to two hours of driving to reprogram. With out this, takes up to 30 days. It will get better as you go. If it doesn't after a week or so. Have it diagnosed...

L200 losing power after driving with oil cap off?

Try resetting the system by pulling the battery terminals off for a decent while. When you first put them back on, it may take time to "learn" your driving habits again, but that should clear the codes. If not, contact me directly and I'll set up a time to reset it and correct the problem.

Check transmission comes on after driving over 65mph for a period of time (15 minutes or so).

You didn't indicate the year of the car, but you can get the trouble codes by having a scan done at Auto Zone or Advance Auto, and the codes will identify where the problem is.

1998 gmc sierra 6.5L duramax code P0238. What is it?

Here's a link to the code,Your boost sensor apparently malfunctioned or possibly sent a signal (for whatever reason ) that the ECM interpreted as a out of range signal . In this case the sensor signal was too high . I would personally clear the codes from the ECM and operate the vehicle under various driving conditions (especially acceleration under load conditions which would engage the turbocharger ) to see if the code resets again . If it does, I would replace the sensor . However , if it does not reset , and no other codes occur it could've been an intermittent malfunction or possibly a glitch in the ECM parameters which does occur from time to time in any computer .

I left my car sitting in the garage for 3 days without driving, and when i turned it on the check engine and vsc light came on, what could be wrong with it?

If it's still operating well, it could be a report of a temporary problem. If you drive it for a few "driving cycles" (routine driving and shutting the car off), often times the lights will reset and go out again. If they stay on, a local PepBoys or auto zone can diagnose the light codes for you cheaply or for free.
Try driving it to see if your lights reset first...
