Hi, How do I change the fuel filter on 1990 volvo 240 dl. I've been smelling gas after I park, so, I got under the car and found out that the connecting tube to the filter is leaking gas. Any help in this matter would be really appreciated.

Purchase a new filter and four mini clamps. The filter comes with hoses and clamps but the clamps don't seem to work so well.

Changed fuel filter, working, tried to kick then as if out of gas, won't start, smell a little bit but not like it is flooded

If nothing else was touched then maybe the filter was installed backwards, by accident. Maybe you remove the fuel pump fuse while doing the job?

I was wondering where the fuel filter is located in a 1989 Volvo 240 DL station wagon

Check the left front fender area under the hood. If it is not there, it will be located under the car, right wheel area.

When starting in the morning, you have to turn the key and let it sit for about 10 or 15 seconds before you start it or else it will start and then soon die. What would be causing this? 1990 Volvo 240 DL

This sounds like a problem with the fuel pump. Check your fuel pump relay then listen for a whirring noise when you turn the ignition to the on position; without starting it. You have two fuel pumps; the main and the pre-pump. The pre-pump, which is in the gas tank itself, can be checked by taking the gas cap off the gas tank (with the ignition key on) and listening for a faint whirring noise. If the "whirring" noise is delayed you need to troubleshoot these pumps and see which one is failing.

1988 Volvo 240 DL won't start B230F

I had more or less the same problem. It would only happen when the engine was cold. According to the mechanic, the fuel pump was going bad. After replacing it, I havent had it happen to me again, granted its only been a couple of days since I changed it.

Where is the fuel filter

Hi redbeans29,
fuel filter is under the car on drivers side, just about under where a rear passenger's feet rest.the filter is in the box looking mount that's held up by 12mm bolts.the fuel pump is right beside it.(filter is the one with NO wires hitched to'll have to loosen 10mm bolt in middle to get it out.(of course you have to unhitch fuel lines first."CAUTION"-fuel is under" EXTREME" amount of "PRESSURE"!!
good luck ron
