Question about 2000 Isuzu Rodeo
It sounds like your alternator may be the culprit. You can do some simple testing yourself to see if it is in fact causing your problems. If you are not familiar with what an alternator is, a quick google images search should help point you in the right direction.
First, look to see there are any obvious signs of damage to the alternator.
Turn on the car and listne to see if there are any noises originating from the alternator. It should not be making noises if working properly. This could be the rumbling that you hear.
You can also go to an auto parts store to purchase a battery tester that will tell you if your car battery and alternator is working as it should. There are cheap versions out there and you do not need to purchase an expensive one for a quick test. I had bought a radio shack one for about $10. The included instructions should tell you what reading is ideal and what indicates a faulty battery or alternator.
Alternatively, you can also use a voltmeter to test.
Switching the voltmeter to 12V DC, touch the leads to the + and - on the car battery while someone starts the car. The voltage should not go below 10 Volts. Optimal readings are approximately between 13.6 and 14.3 volts.
If any of your tests indicate a faulty alternator, you should see your mechanic about getting it replaced.
