Impreza just had a full engine rebuild. The car choked whilst overtaking.Garage say timing belt jumped, reason because fuel was low, starved engine making it judder and the belt moved. Is this possible

Hi Angie:
Sounds very strange to me.
Anything is "possible", however, since it was just rebuilt, I would suggest that the reason given is not "probable".
I would be asking that the person who did the rebuild do the repairs, and unless the problem was proven to be totally unrelated to the re-build, I would be asking that it be done at no charge.

Changed timing belt on my 2001 ford focus 2.0 dohc and now it is idyling high. I read somewhere that I have to drive around for 20-30 miles for the car to relearn the idle. They said after driving around...

That's rubbish, when the fan belt is changed as long as it's not to tight or to loose everything will be fine, the fan belt operates the power steering, air conditioning etc, if that's all working when fitted an easy way to find out another problem your not sure of is to pop into a garage and have a didiagnostic test.

Sound like you have a bad coolant sensor the sensor is the most important of all sensor the engine computer feeds fuel using the coolant sensor if it's hot it cuts back fuel if it's cold it feeds more fuel

About 100 or 110 km and all of the sudden the engine shut it off. so i put on d side of the road and try to start it wont start but it turns. so i asked a tow truck to bring it home. the next morning i...

i think that if the engine cut off right away when the belt broke that it should still be ok ,just have to make sure it is put back aligning all the timing marks

Sounds like you're running rich.

First, change the air filter, and check that the air intake isn't blocked somewhere.

If that doesn't sort it out, it's the carb. They have an automatic choke (cold start), which could be sticking on and causing problems.

One thing it isn't is the timing belt (sorry Satanscash) as this engine doesn't have one... and even if it did, failure of the belt results in a very dead engine!
