The problem you are facing is very common. Take your car to an expert to know whether the oil pan needs to be replaced? If yes then you need to do that immediately without further delay. Last time I encountered problem in the oil pan of my car, I immediately replace that part from http://www.automotix.net/usedautoparts.html that now my problem is completely resolved.

If you got this leak after the oil change than you probably just stripped the oil drain bolt. Not really a bolt, but the thread in the oil pan. There are 3 solutions for this issue. First you need to replace the oil pan. Drain the oil, unscrew all the bolts holding in from the bottom, put a new one in with a new gasket, screw it back and put the oil back in. The oil pan bolts need to be torqued to the specs because it is easy to strip/break them if you overtighten.

Another solution is to rethread the drain hole for a bigger diameter bolt. This must be done preferably with the oil pan out so the metal shawings would not get into the oil system. I think this is the hardest method.

And another solution would be to buy a helicoil kit for your size of oil drain hole. This is the easies one for DIY. and less expensive then replacing the whole pan.

If it started after the oil change first you might want to make sure the oil filter and drain plug are tightened / seated properly.

Where is the oil pump on a 1997 mercury sable 3.0 engine think its weak as I hear valves chatter and changed oil filter it was only half full of oil is this normal

Half full is not normal. You may have leak or burn. Clatter is usually the hydralic valve lifters. Does it quiet down after it's been running a while? What is the oil pressure?

Is it smoking? If so then that's a sign of burning oil.Could be bad rings"check your plugs to see if any have oil on them.Check around your valve cover gasket for leaks.Oil seal could be leaking.Check oil pan gasket too.

Hi, I just got my oil changed for my 2000 VW Beetle about a month ago, and my oil level is already by the add line.. is this normal? is there something wrong with my car?

Sounds like your burning oil or leaking oil, how many miles have you put on the car since you last got the oil changed? Check under your hood for any fresh oil leaks around your valve cover gasket, under you car around the oil pan, also make sure the service station that changed your oil tightened your oil filter and theres not a leak there, make sure your oil drain plug on your oil pan is not leaking or loose, if you cannot find any of the above your most likely burning oil due to worn piston rings or valve guide seals......

The oil pump may have gone bad. Involves dropping the oil pan and replacing the oil pump, check the pan for any metal peices.

Van makes ticking sound while on; now only while accelerating...

could be a dry lifter, try adding seafoam to the oil before the oil change and run it for a few miles,it will allow oil to flow to all of the lifters easier and fill up any dry ones, then change the oil,use 5 w30 all year unless you are in Florida or where its really hot then use 10 w30 all year around, the thinner for cold and thicker for hot is usually recommended.

Hmm with 150,000 miles i really doubt anything
It could be just a coincidence.

They could have possibly left something in the oil pan that caused the pick up tube to become blocked somewhat.

Oil light goes on...had a dry stick 4 1/2 qts put in. no oil on ground. after oil change light went on at 70 miles.. on 15 secs then off for 5 miles then on again 15 secs--- off 4 miles--off 3 miles- off 2...

if it's not going onto the ground, and it's not being burned, check the positive crankcase ventilation and the exhaust gas recirculation valves for oil seepage...also check your air filter, if its got oil on it replace the pcv valve.

2003cadillac deville uses to much oil

Regular Oil Changes with the recommended oil type for your car and area are a must or seals will get weak and oil will leak!

You may have a leak!

Do you change your oil regularly?

Even if you haven't put on the miles, you should change your oil every 3 to 6 months to keep the seals renewed.

If you haven't changed your oil on schedule, do so immediately!
Also check for any oil leaks around gaskets, filter, and oil plug.

Oil pressure light comes on after driving on highway for 10 miles

Sounds like your sending unit sensor - if it was your pump going out, your engine would be history by now. Rule of thumb, if your oil check light ever comes on, it's usually too late to remedy the problem. You have a major issue, but since you've obviousely drove it quite a bit since then and it still hasn't seized up, I'm guessing you're ok...for now. Since you took it to a shop and they said you're ok, I'm assuming they checked your level and visually checked for leaks and found nothing. Either, you've got somethijng partially blocking your pick-up tube for the pump which is in your oil pan, or a electrical issue with the sensor. I would start by having someone check the sensor out and go from there...good luck.
