2000 Cadillac Escalade Logo
Anonymous Posted on Mar 14, 2011

I have a 2000 Cadillac escalade and I just installed a brand new rebuilt transmission on it cause the RPM, MPH gauges would not work along with the little orange light that let's you know what gear your on. Also the CHECK GAUGES light came on. Anyway the suv started running like **** Like when I take off I have to punch in the gas more cause it struggles just to take off as if it was on 4x4 or something. So I paid a lot of money for the rebuilt tranny, installed it and the problem still persists. So I was told it is an electrical problem or a sensor. WOULD ANYONE HAVE A CLUE TO WHAT MIGHT BE CAUSING THIS PROBLEM?? Any help would be deeply appreciated.

The new transmission. the tcm and pcm dont recognize the new transmission.by transmission being new.the transmission shift controls has to be reprogram to shift correctly.most all the late 90s and 2000s models gm vechicle.you install new parts they have to be reprogrammed.new vechicles transmission has to reprogrammed.like back in 50s 60s 70s 80s you could buy another transmission may sure it had fluid in it.you install new transmission and drive off on your way no troubles at all. but now is a different ball game. you install new parts. you need special diagnostic equipment to reprogram in new parts to pcm before it will shift right.

Ford Explorer 1998 rebuilt transmission

Hello
The engine and automatic transmission in this vehicles drive train are fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM and TCM (Power Train Control Module, Transmission Control Module). When a problem like this or other drive-ability related problems occurs the computer stores a record of the problem (there are of course some exceptions to this, like the fuel pump, engine coolant temperature sensor and MAF sensor for instance) in the form of a fault code in its memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems memory scanned with a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read you then must perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and resolve the problem(s) DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS UNTIL A TRAINED TECHNICAIN HAS DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO AVOID SPENDING YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON PARTS THAT MAY NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM

Did you flush the grit out of the transmission cooler and the lines to it? If not you may have ruined a new transmission.

2003 CADILLAC ESCALADE ESV INSTRUMENT PANEL NOT WORKING

Unfortunately this is all to common a problem in these computer electronic clusters. You will need to call the dealer and find out where they send the instrument clusters for rebuilding in your area. Cost is about $250.00 if you do the removal and installation after repair.

Does the ECM control the MPH gauge?

well yes but no,the speedometer signal comes from speed sensor in the transmission then goes through the ecm/pcm via the tcm (transmission control module, then on to your speedo,if the speed sensor goes bad usually the speedometer will work crazy if not at all also the instument clusters also go bad causing failure too find a new tech dude
