Question about 1994 Dodge Ram 2500

1 Answer

I have a cummins, 5.9, it quit running. No fuel. Went to the fuel pump, replaced it, filled the filter with fuel, it started, then quit. Bled the line, lots of bubbles, thought we had a fuel line issue. Dropped the tank, replaced the Module ( gauge didn't work anyway). Still can't get it to run past the fuel filter. Since I am getting bubbles from the bleed valve I assume the pump is operational. I'm guessing the injector pump does not have "suction" to pull the fuel from the filter to run, so there has to be a breech. Where?

When you run a Pump Empty, there is no FUEL to keep it cool and you overheat it and burn it up.

I have done many fuel pump replacements and I had 3 in a row that were defective right out of the box..

My 5.9 dodge cummins diesel won't start, I've replaced the fuel lift pump, and the fuel filter, turns over. But will not start?

Most likely you just have air in the lines.Crack them open one at a time and bleed them with the fuel pump off and on till you get fuel.If it fires dont hit the throttle let it sit and idle and close the line.Does it fire up with a small whif of starting fluid?

2005 Duramax stopped running.replaced fuel filter and sensor,no luck cam you help.

After replacing the fuel filter did you prime the system? There should be a small circular pump on top of the filter assembly to prime it. I own a 2003 Duramax and it usually takes about 5 pumps / turn over / 5 more pumps / turn over / and 5 more and you should get it started. It will take longer if you didn't fill the fuel filter with diesel before installing it as well. Let me know. Thanks.

About 5 weeks ago after filling with diesel fuel the truck would not start. After about 15 minutes it finally started. It continued to run perfectly for the next 5 weeks until 2 days ago when it dropped...

Did you empty diesel out and just refill if so then you made a mistake which could have damaged fuel pumps

Diesels are suppose to be bled after refilling if have been run totally dry.

95 cummins, cant get fuel to fuel filter. already replaced lift pump and tried to prime but still no luck. what should i check next?

Is the lift pump on the engine and mechanical? If it is please try to put some air preasure in the tank and see if you get fuel to your filter,Or you can get a 2 gallon bucket a fill with clean fuel and run a suchtion line from the pick up pump and see if it will pick up then if it does you have a colapsed line,I hope this helps

Fuel Pump

Start with the simple and replace the fuel filter first. A dirty fuel filter will cause the engine to stop running, due to the lack of fuel flow to the engine. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to answer any more questions you may have.

Dodge cummins won't start, fuel reaching injector pump but no fuel coming out of injector pump.

You said you have fuel flowing from the inlet line of the injection pump? But not at the injector lines?
