Ran the car low on fuel. Battery went dead over the winter. i recharged the battery and added fuel. fuel gauge says just under half and the battery is recharged. the problem is my dash warning stills says "0 miles till empty" even though there is fuel and the car runs.

Drive it a bit. Computer "miles to empty" is an average based on MPGs. Since you disconnected battery you reset memory so it has nothing to base on.

2000 Grand Marquis, battery lost charge over winter. I recharged turns over good. Car was real low on fuel so I added a 20 liter of fuel. Can I open a connection on the rail to check the fuel pump?

**DON'T OPEN THE FUEL RAIL!!** The injectors run at a VERY high pressure! If you need the fuel pressure checked, get a good mechanic to do it.
Assuming that...
the vehicle was a runner before the winter.
there is fuel in the tank.
there are no warning lights showing on the dash.
Try cranking the engine over in short bursts. This should pull the fuel through and the engine should start.

I fail to see how you do not believe you have a
failed battery,the used one

Buy a new battery with the correct Group Size for the
car & at least 700 CCA rating

Napa top of the line with NO Caps on top, would be a
good choice

Look on napa web site.they are made by Penn Battery

BAT 8475 690 CCA $112.37

Battery went dead for my 2005 range rover but i recharged it right away. now my fuel and rpm gauge stay zero.speed and temperature gauge is ok.

Disconnect the battery both leads and join them together for half hour then see what happens if they still dont work then iam afraid you have had brown out in the system and this will have damaged the speedo unit electronics which are on the back of the speedo ,it has a mini computer on the back in fact and its expensive

1998 pontiac sunfire manual. Car starts but sputters and then dies and is completly dead but in the morning will start again and then die. I changed the coil pack but still the same. what can it be?

You can't do any testing, until you have a battery
that will take and hold a charge

Then you move on to testing the Alternator, then
Fuel Pressure & continue on with other testing

Gauge shows battery not recharging

There could be a couple of causes, the most likely is a bad battery cable or connection, or the fusible link on the positive connection(marked bat on the alternator)has gone bad.

Car starts run's 3 seconds shuts down

Your car is equipped with a system called PASSKEY standard on all GM cars and light trucks, try the following procedure to reset the system, the battery being dead will trigger the system.

1) Put the key in the ignition and turn to the "ON" position. Leave it that way for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes turn the key and take it out. Repeat this process (2) more times (3 times, 30 minutes total) This should reset the passlock system to recognize your key.
