Car wont drive

When i put my 2005 nissan maxima in gear, it wont respond. sometimes the car will drive, but only on first gear and for a few seconds, then theres no movement at all. i checked all my fluids and there all fine. is it my transmission? or is it the gear box?

When it won't move can you reve the engine? and if so does it try to engage into any gears at all?

Im having a similar issue with my 2005 Maxima. Usually when i start the car cold it seems fine and engages right away. But after it warms up it will just free rev and go no where in any gear including reverse. But if i shut the car off and try again it always seems to work again.

I have 1995 nissan maxima when i crank the car on and put it on drive it takes of real slow but when it gets to the second gear it drives fine. what can the problem be? do i need another transmission?

It must be starting in second, if it is then it must be an electrical solenoid problem, it might be in the valve-body in the transmission.

2004 Nissan Maxima Intermittent Transmission Problem?

I don't know exactly how the nissans work with their "limp" mode for what gear it goes into and such. This sounds like the computer is sensing a problem and going into the "limp" mode. Go get the code pulled to see what is says. If it has anything saying trans slipping or ratio problem then something internal in the the trans is wrong. Also, check the trans fluid and see if its burnt ( dark brown or black).

Gear Shift gets stuck on Maxima 2001

The gear shift electrical relay or module inside it is not reading the signal to release. You need to have the electronic relay or module repaired or the gear shift assembly replaced.

do not flush the trans, that will make it worse.
My friend you have no second gear, you need trans rebuilt.
If you flush it now you can cause more damage.

Continue 2 car wont drive

than yes have your transmission checked. it sounds like maybe the gears have melted togher not allowing it to go into any other gear and that when the transmission heats up it is popping or slipping out of gear.
