Have a bad pcm and need to swap it with one from the junk yard but the antitheft system wont let the car start

You will have to have the PCM reflashed in order for it to accept your key. As of now it only recognizes the original key. The dealership will have to do the reprogramming necessary for key recognition

I replaced pcm

only a service dealer can reprogram the PCM to your keys or your keys to the PCM they need both units connected up to the code programmer to do this.

Pcm replacement

Hi,
The PCM must match for your year and model. Ebay probably has the correct part or use a local wrecking/used parts yard.

Replaced the brain box,but still wont start

Yes unforunatly, unless you know of a good repair shop that has the proper equipment. The thing is you vehicle may run with just a junk yard "brain box" (powertrain control module or PCM) but it wouldn't have the correct info in it (VIN gor that vehicle or mileage etc...). WWhat's cuasing the vehicle not to run is the anti theft. Your vehicles keys have a transpoder or chip in it that goes to a "brain box" (Sentry key immobilizer module or SKIM) that in turn sends a signal to the PCM telling it that nobody has just broke into the ignition switch and is just turning it with a screwdriver or something. There is really no way to bypass it either. Wish I had better news but I hope this helped

Replaced the pcm and now it doesn"t crank Tried to do the relearn no go

unfortunately if you replaced the pcm with a wrecking yard one, or even a new one it has to be towed to dealer, and reprogrammed so the internal vin memory and calibrations match your vehicle

If I replaced the PCM on the 2005 dodge ram truck would I have to reprogram the keys to make the truck run?

If you key has a chip in it, you will probably have to get your ECM reprogrammed with the proper VIN, since it no longer matches the original VIN on your Vehicle. I don't think the dealer would program your keys to a mismatched VIN number, so more than likely you will need your ECM reprogrammed with the proper VIN. This will need to be taken to the Dodge Dealership to be fixed.

Is it possible that the diagnostic result from the dealership would be wrong regarding the PCM defect. Their recommendation is to replace the PCM. It was diagnosed P-0601 Intenal failure code. My car is...

Take the van to AutoZone or similar business to get a free scan of the computer and see if you get the same error code. You should be able to replace the PCM with one from a wrecking yard--they guarantee them usually for at least 30 days. Dodge dealers and auto parts houses sell rebuilt ones too, but it has been a number of years since I had to buy one. Wrecking yards usually sell for half of new price. Hope this helps!
