This sounds like you have a bad ground somewhere, check the main grounds to your starter and engine and see if you can find one that is loose.

If it starts sometimes, and doesn't others, you may have a faulty Ignition Switch, or a faulty Starter Relay. It is also possible that you starter solenoid gets stuck sometimes, and other times it works.

If you changed the belt, that means that you have been having problems with your altenator. You battery is probably dead.

Why is my volt light flashing off and on?

Your alternator is bad. When the car drove home fine it was running off the battery and not the alternator. Replace the alternator, and the belt too while you're at it.

My car needs a jump every day ive checked the altenator and starter and they are fine what other option is it?

Bad battery. Sometimes they are strong enough to run, but can't hold a strong enough charge to start your car.

Sounds like the starter is going bad. The internals of the solinoid may be breaking down. By adding the extra amperage to the system your basically forcing it to work. You may want to check the posts on the starter. If they are coming lose they can give you the same tell tales of a bad starter.

My car will not crank the batter is fine someone said my altenator buts not draining so could be a post or just the starter

the alternaor doesnt affect the starter. check the battery connections, If you think its the starter, have someone hold the key on like trying to crank the engine and rap on the starter lightly with a hammer, if it starts then, replace the starter. if not you may need to find a shop to diagnose it.

I've had the exact same problem, it is most likely the starter. Just to be sure I'll tell you what mine did (same model and year) started to act like the battery was going bad, then sometimes would start just fine. But progressively got worse, turning over slower than before until finally it would just click. After pulling the starter I found that the bushing on the armature was missing, this was a 9 month old starter. Replaced with another new and it works just fine.

2003 Honda Element Battery, Starter, Solenoid or Altenator

im having the same problem. I went to one place and they said I needed a new starter. So I took it to another and they said the wires to the starter were not good and needed to be replaced, they put in a new battery also. Then 2 days later it wouldnt start again. So I took it back they diagnosed it and could not find a issue with it. So the guy told me it is something electrical most probably a relay of a sort. A coworker told me to go to a electrical specialist.
