The sound is different from a vacum leak. It sounds like a high preasure hose spraying water against concrete. kind of a "shhhhhhhh sound"...The car idles fine, but as you accelerate, the engine makes this sound. I will check the MAS tonight when I get home and let you know the results.

You need to run a code scan or go to your local auto parts dealer and have one ran.... this will let you know if it is a simple sensor or something like a sending unit.

Hi

You did not mention when the check engine light is flashing which code/codes the computer is displaying. However two common codes are P0171, P0174 OBD-II Trouble Code .They indicate a lean condition and vacuum leaks. The most common cause of this is a defective mass air flow sensor. Basically this means that an oxygen sensor in bank 2 detected a lean condition too much oxygen in the exhaust. Turn the engine on and let it run and unplug the MAS if the engine performance improves you got it, plug it back in to see the difference, if unplugging the MAS does nothing, check for leaks in the vacuum, often they are near the PVC valve .

Please get back to us if you have further query else please accept the suggestion.

Check the quality of your oil. Coolant maybe leaking internally due to worn out head gasket.

On the top of the motor on both sides there are two round parts leaking small amout of oil on 2004 lincoln ls v8

Sounds like the cam position sensors sticking thru
the valve covers.

My 2004 v8 is doing that on the driver side a little.

Big job to remove valve covers for that,to replace a seal
Live with it & wipe off every couple of weeks

Whistle noise indicates a major vacuum leak. Maybe something loose in the intake system. Maybe a vacuum hose disconnected. Will explain lose of power also.

There is a light mist of water spraying up around the serpentine belt and the power steering. Car was overheating with not heater working. Now not overheating (after radator leak stop) but spraying water...

still leaking.. it sound like a hose has a hole in it. i dont think stop leak will fix it. look for where it is coming from and replace it. if it is spraying near the serpentine belt it is probaly the water pump. or a hose connecting to it.

Coolant leak cant find it . it only leaks when heats up and it has a heavy drip coming out where the transmission meets the oil pan undernearth

That would be your heater box overflow making that drip on the transmission, which indicates that you have a leak in your heater core. Try disconnecting the hoses to your firewall which connect to your heater core and either blocking them or joining them together to see if the leak stops. If it does, you can leave them that way until you can get to your heater core and replace it.

2002 ford windstar has no power when wet

  • is the car losing water?
  • water under the car comes from the air con unit in hot weather
  • power loss under pressure is caused by a number of things, get a compression check done and maybe a full service on engine,
  • is it turboo? if so that could be switched off due to fault
  • a head gasket/crack will cause both the faults you mentioned
  • the cat will not cause water leaks,

Making a howling noise while enginge running . noise changes when accelerate...

This as YOU describe ,sounds like the AIR-BY-PASS valve....OR... a vac leak....try TAPPING on the air valve (near the throttle body) while it's doing it and does it change???? If so replace it...hopefully this is your problem and .....other wise look for a vac. leak....GL

Losing power 98 TJ wrangler

Sounds as if converter on exhaust is getting plugged up. have it checked and replaced. That will force exhaust out ahead of it where ordinarily it would flow with less pressure. Oil leak is a separate item.

96 windstar,power lose

Start withe the cheapest fix first. When was the last time the fuel filter was replaced? Sounds like a plugged fuel filter but I would also check the air filter. It obviously has spark since it was running and if the air filter is clean then all that is left to check is the fuel system. When you turn on the ignition you should be able to hear the fuel pump cycle to pressurize the fuel system. If the pump does not make any noise, then hit the bottom of your fuel tank with a hammer. This will sometimes make the pump work again but should be replaced ASAP. Take off your air intake and look down the throttle body while someone else turns over the engine. You should be able to see the injectors pulsing fuel into the engine. Do you have a 3.8l engine? If so, they are notorious for the timing cover seals leaking. This means that antifreeze will leak into your oil pan and wash down your rod and main bearings. That means that your engine is in need of a rebuild.
